Yes the Greens are a dangerous commodity. Would probably dish out grants to people who glue themselves to the road, but one policy that Nick Robinson highlighted on his one-on-one interview with the Green co-leader, is that they would ban petrol and diesel cars from 2035. That’s not banning the purchase of those cars, it’s the use of those cars after 2035. As Nick Robinson pointed out that could be up 30 million cars…

To be fair they could offer to heal the hole in my arse if they got elected because it ain't ever going to happen. They are an irrelevance in British politics and have only got 4 MP's this time around because of their adoption as a handy protest vote vehicle. The Muslim vote will vanish as they become more politically defined (next election will be interesting to see how that manifests itself) with the blatant anti-humanist stance that underlies Green policy will see the Left drift as well.

No, but there will be plenty of ball-ocks.

It’s a serious problem for the Party. One that will be very divisive and difficult for Central Office to solve. If they allow the membership to choose, as logically they should, they will get Braverman. Which would see them competing with Reform for the 20% or so of right wing voters, which could wipe them out.

If they allow the MPs to choose, which makes sense too, then they would probably get Hunt and rebuild as a centre right Party, ready to recapture the middle ground after a Labour failure.

So do they choose oblivion or survival?

I am not much in favour of suicide myself!

You may have seen an article in today's Guardian by Peter Jenkins in which he argues that Sunak's most crucial task before stepping down is, "by whatever means he can", to return selection of leader to MPs. I agree.

The purple-rinse ladies can be relied on to go for someone unsuitable. It was after Conservative MPs had had Ian Duncan Smith foisted on them as leader that they decided to change the rules. Another change is needed.

Some great points.
We’ve got to where we are over a fairly lengthy period. It’s not all down to Rishi and the last 12 month’s of governmental policy.

IDS talks a lot of sense, he would still make a good leader.

I feel he apologised as he was told to by the new boss. He believed what he wrote but now in power they have to be whiter than white, and I didn’t even mean that tbh

I didn’t criticise the article if you read my post. I asked why just 1 day ago Farage was called far right. In this article he isn’t. Why not was my question !

Because the politics of the Party wasn’t the subject.

See, even you haven’t done your normal far right and Farage. Are you and others accepting that it is a real political party which is just a right wing party ?

The political position of Reform is well enough known at the moment not to have to be repeated all the time. Especially when the Tories are the subject.

The Tories lose people like us then it is game over. Their only chance to ever making a come back is if they recognise this and act accordingly. I suspect the people on the ground such as Wilo understand this but, and I say this with all respect, they seem to be treated with more contempt by Conservative Central Office then anybody else.

With the removal of Liz Truss, for whom the Conservative membership voted for, in favour of Sunak, who they did not, concrete proof of that.

There are many, me included, who hold precisely the reverse opinion. Only if people like you are given nowhere else other than Reform to do your moaning and groaning will the Tories ever have a chance of retaking the centre ground on which every UK government must stand. Two Reforms, or a merged Tory & Reform would always face the same problem. They have a natural ceiling to their support. The majority are not and never will be sympathetic to the politics of the right.
