I may be wrong about cooper who knows...but not yet! I feel the same about Lampard too. In the situation we are in at present I think bringing Nuno in could encourage others to stay also. A signal to intent to our players as well as fans. We need too be sensible and cautious

Funny read this thread. No one contender for the job seems to have full backing by everyone, for my part; Nuno: Not sure where the Hype has come from for this guy - did really well transforming Wolves from a champ outfit to a hit-the-ground-running PL side, which has outlasted The 'difficult second season', but this has been done through acquisitions and some proper coup signings (mounthinho!?) thanks to his associations with Mendes. Is Mendes affiliated with the club or the Manager? Can he perform outside of That environment? one thing is for sure, they Lost Jiminez and Jota, and at times looked like a disaster waiting to happen this season. Saying that, any manager who can get Traore to look like a vague imitation of a footballer, has to have something about him! Cooper: Good history with youth and England setup. Did well with the Swans without Setting the world alight. The singular Swans fan I know is very much 'Meh' about him leaving. feels a bit like Hodgson who looks to the youth. expect some dire performances. Difficult to expect PL survival. Feels like a good fit for our current state! Howe: I've said Plenty about Howe on this board. did good on an extended project at Bournemouth which Started in league Z. things got Stale in the PL after 3-4 years here. that sh*t happens to loads of managers. finds it hard to Organise a defence...which coincidentally is the first job here. Lamps: Hard to call him a failure after his success at Derby(even if it was backed by Chelsea reserves), and 1st season at Chelsea. only fell apart at Chelsea after he was asked to integrate 30 new players into a new team. (which included no defenders). If he had a say in the transfers, then that's on him, if not then it's in the DOF @ Chelsea. Tuchel has come in and done well, but those same new players had had almost a year to acclimatise to each other. and he bought Thaigo Silva. Dyche: Similar to Hodgson, and therefore uninspiring. probably do alright. seems a pointless move for him though. Ishmael: Bit of an unknown quantity for me tbh, What I know of him has been written on this thread! based on that probably the most exciting of names in the Hat. no guarantee of success (but then, who is?!)
a mate of mine who is a ST holder at wolves and watches every game h & a says he doesnt for the life of him understand how they got moutinho, who is by far, the best player he has ever seen in 30 years watching wolves. he does really!

The only thing I agree on is we are all in disagreement about who should come in and whoever gets the nod will see a minority happy. Nuno - for me is the number one candidate. I agree the mendes links have helped him, but you can’t take away a promotion and 7th place finish. Seems to have a coached Trore to be a decent asset when he was knockigg by about the championship. I think players do develop under him, but your right how will he fair with lesser players. However, I don’t think you should dismiss his qualities and I feel he would be a coup to get him. Cooper. You mention under Lampard (his success at derby). Cooper has equalled that success with 1/4 of the budget. Again he is another risk, but I like him. He seems to have been more successful than potter at Swansea with half of the resources. Potter has done ok. Yes, his football is not as sexy on the eye but he strikes me as a good coach who seems to get results from ‘meh’ players Howe - actually agree with you him actually. Cannot organise a defence which is worrying Lampard- did ok at Derby. You put mason mount, tomori etc in a average championship team and they should be getting in the play offs. You only have to look at Morgan Gibbs-white for Swansea to see what a good premier league player gets you. When we was sacked by Chelsea, they were 9th. Would you trust him with the little money we have. Yes, he takes chance on youngsters, but can he coach. How can you see Rudiger as not being good enough. Dyche - second favourite for me. If we cannot get Nuno, then pay the compo. Both he and Palace have something to prove. Well organised coach who again gets the best out of ‘meh’ players. Not as flexible as Nuno, but could be with more players. Ishmeal - for the all the hype around this guy, he excites me the least. Never managed 50 games at one club and his football is so direct, it makes a Pulis Stoke team look like Barcelona. He was also out foxed over two legs by Cooper which shows me that Cooper is currently better tactically than him. There is no plan b with Barnsley, it’s lump it and win the seconds. If he stays and they are in the play-offs next season, I’ll be proved wrong. I think like Wilder and overlapping CB’s it takes teams by surprised initially, but then they wise up and stops working. Obviously has something but not the guy to manage an overhaul at a premier league club in my opinion.

I'm warming to Ismael. Barnsley must have some under rated players and he must know who they are. What he did up there was a miracle and he is much loved by their fans and players. Was it Chelsea that they really had a go at in the cup? No sitting back. i wouldnt be upset if he was the clubs choice either. the added bonus is when our knobhead fans turn on him within 6 months he wont cost much to get rid of.

Boro are losing the likes of Asombalonga and Fletcher this season as their contracts have run out. He actually finished the season not playing them because of it and is looking at doing a rebuild job on a shoe-string budget. Edited by Mwncisee (02 Jun 2021 4.45pm) Warnock, is ,and has been for years a first class EFL, manager his record speaks for its self.

He is most definitely a risk candidate but *Cooper seems disliked at Swansea And they seem the other risk candidates being discussed. Ismael's big failing is inexperience

Just seen on Sky Sports that Wolves are on the verge of announcing Bruno Lage as their new manager. Didn't take them long to make the appointment after Santo's departure. Been finalising contracts and work permits today. Quite impressive if true. Tends to show up, what appears to be, our own lethargic and laborious approach to precruiting Roy's replacement. We can only hope there's frantic work going on behind the scenes to finalise and bring in the right man while maintaining a calm and unflappable front to the media.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I honestly think we’re all making more of the timing than it actually is. We’re in the first week of June. I accept we need to get the contracts sorted, but provided there is an appointment within the next 7-10 days, we have ample opportunity to do so. Especially considering a number of players have already been offered contracts, just waiting for the stamp of approval from the impending manager.

We have had 4 years to 'contemplate' a successor for Roy. Ideally we'd have had some continuity by getting someone already connected to the club in some way but that did not happen nor a 'big name' show any interest in the very obvious vacancy coming up.

Yup its impressive how some clubs seem to plan ahead isnt it. I would love Nuno but suspect he may be Everton bound. As one of the premiers bottom feeders and with a massive squad rebuild to configure we may have to wait for the manager merrygoround to slow right down before we see the white smoke at the jerk chicken shack.

Ross took over Sunderland who had been relegated from the Championship.
