Not the best or worse choice in the world.

Would be happy with monk compared to some of the candidate's banded around.

Been discussed at length so no need to start a new thread.

Monk has more miles on the clock than Hodgson and because of Hodgson's age anyone he signs will be on a short term deal.

Hodgson also has dull and training methods when in a time when football is evolving is hardly ideal.

If Hodgson did become involved at Palace it should be as a director of football passing on knowledge and advice to a younger forward thinking coach.

Just my opinion.

What are you basing that on?

Mark Schwarzer was on Talksport literally 3 or 4 days ago raving about Roy's training and saying he was one of the few managers that really coached and spent lots of time on the training pitch with the team.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying he is my preferred manager but I actually think he would be a good appointment to give stability and the fact that he won't be using us as a springboard.

For starters he has a very good win % over his career. He has managed both top teams and average teams (and actually done better with the latter) and he is also credited with developing the England training base which by all accounts is a fantastic facility.

Oh and as for relegation fights do you not remember the Fulham team that was dead and buried until he took over? He then took that team to a UEFA cup final!

If he was appointed I certainly wouldn't be disappointed.

Anyone but Hodgson. That is all.

I've heard a lot of players say his training methods are the same thing day in and day out.

Btw do you think a 69 year old Roy Hodgson will take our club forward?

Because?

I am in danger of sounding like a cheerleader for Hodgson, I am not, I just don't think he is as bad as people say.

What makes Monk the better candidate in your eyes?

He did a brilliant job at Fulham a few years back and got them well established in the PL, so he might well be able to do the same for palace. But personally I would prefer a younger, hands on, technical/modern methods/analytics coach to take over who has a real hunger to build the club.
