Wife has just tested positive. She had been working at the airport last weekend where no one seems to be wearing a mask! She felt very I’ll last couple of days but is better today Give her my best. Anyone who thinks this is "just a cold" has either not had it, or been very lucky. Take care yourself. We both came down with it within a couple of days, even though we kept apart. It's the tiredness which is such a nuisance. The sun is shining, and the gardening beckons, but within an hour I feel knackered.

At the risk of exposing my own ignorance I do wonder whether it is Omicron or any other strain flying about these days? I tested positive a few weeks ago, after a long spell of unrelated illness and was virtually asymptomatic. In any case, wish yourself and Wife all the best, you too Wisbech and hopefully this is a milder strain most people are picking up recently (although again, would reference my earlier statement regarding my ignorance). There seems to be a new sub variant of Omicron which is more transmissible. I don't know if that's what we have, but given the very high numbers here, it seems likely. If it's milder, I am just glad I didn't get a stronger version. It's been pretty unpleasant. My bowling friend, who got it a week before me, is still quite ill, and unable to do much at all. One symptom we both have, which others don't, is a loss of appetite. I think I want to eat, but after a short time just cannot face it.

My otherwise very healthy wife had it too and displayed cold like symptoms (lethargy, cough etc). I did slightly lose appetite, had a few heart palpitations too which I found out is not unexpected.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

The loss of apetite can be hard. I stopped eating when I had it. And may have made myself worse! Couldnt keep any food down either. Would recommend try to eat somthing small like toast and keep drinking plenty of water. Also do regular temperature checks and try keep the temperature down if it gets to high!

You could face that lovely Cornish ice cream with English strawberries, I bet. I had no sense of taste myself but enjoyed the odd Ben and Jerry's and Hagen Das out of the tub with a spoon.

This surge in Cornwall just proves covid eventually spreads where it hasn’t. I had it in October and probably delta or similar. I could’ve skipped eating but ate as normal and regularly. Did little exercise for 10 days which is unusual. Loss of smell for 7-8 days but no loss of taste. A few times things didn’t taste the same but nothing major.

I used to live 3 miles from Scorrier, so yes I know where it is. Been 2 weeks since I was last in the city, but there were quite a few still wearing masks inside shops then. Not outside though. There is a lot of Covid here at the moment, and it seems very transmissible, so good luck with the PCR.

I was getting a pain in the area around my heart, just as I must have got infected, about 3 days before the symptoms showed up. So I contacted my doctor and was due to have an ECG and blood tests tomorrow, which has now been postponed as I am still testing positive. No pain there now though.

I had the same when I had it, and the jabs. It seems that it's a vascular illness rather than respiratory. You can get a finger monitor (around £20 - Boots do one) that checks your heart rate and O2 levels. I found that my heart palpitations showed as a decrease in O2 levels and a 50% increase in my heart rate. I went for a walk and breathed deeply when I had one. I was also taking an aspirin every couple of days (blood thinner). I work in Cath labs so get to check my BP, o2 and heart rate regularly and I found that when I was not having a palpitation all were normal. So I suspect nothing will be seen.

Good call, even when covid isn't a concern.
