However I'd be doing that purely on merit, not on race, nationality etc. as I cannot see the need to do so, especially as if such a qualification was ever brought in it would drastically reduce the amount of immigration anyway therefore vastly reducing any secondary cultural impact. If you're suggesting that genetics are almost solely responsible for intelligence, ie. the heritability argument, it is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth to suggest that this theory has scientific consensus. Heritability as a sole or main factor for the explanation of human traits was widely discredited 50 years ago. As I say, I'd have an immigration policy similar to that of Japan....mainly to ensure that this country remained English/British for the centuries to come....but I know that isn't going to happen....but it's my view for what's it is worth. Anyway as for what I've said on genetics and intelligence....the consensus is that a person's intelligence is significantly set from their genetics just as much behaviour is...for example just as your sexuality is mainly set genetically (though not exclusively so). However, I'd agree that an individual's environment and the culture around them has an influence: environment affects genes. I'd imagine that in some instances it's more important than in others as it's unlikely that everybody is the exact same on this nature/nurture front. Opinions in the field vary but it's mostly agreed at somewhere between 50 to 80 percent for genetics......I'd personally say it's nearer the 80 percent from what I've read but I'd much prefer the 50 percent figure because that would be better for humanity. Eventually I'd hope that the field of genetics would help humanity out with this reality.....though improving genetics via gene therapy or designer babies has its own issues. I'm not getting into this but one wouldn't bat an eyelid if it were suggested that musical ability or athleticism were hereditary for example, so why do people have such a problem with intelligence? Answer: Because it is politically sensitive. Nurture plays a big part in development but you can't nurture what isn't there in the first place. Everyone has their potential and it is inevitable that there will be a measurable scale where one group tends to be toward the bottom for a particular skill set.

Once I read that the guy on the report worked with Ken Livingstone.....I have to admit the cynicism grew significantly. I'm also from this field, I know what happens with these statistics.....I know how one demographic gets far more investment than another and then you get people like you presenting it as natural. When we have a thread on genetics and intelligence don't worry Maple, I'll spend some time on it again and get all my sources together. Then you'll be rinsed if you want to argue along those same lines.

Essentially I'd look to help countries with problems without importing their problems into my own......but that concept was thrown out as some kind of 'evil' a long time ago. I think they got it seriously wrong following good intentions...but hey ho....Nothing can be done about it now. I think you've mentally walked yourself into a bit of a dead end that, as you say, cannot come to pass anyway. I blame the internet really. It's all too easy to pick and choose and before you know if you've got a Youtube playlist that'd make peoples toes curl. The Internet is a culture in its own right and can impact people as significantly. People tend to gravitate to media and content that feeds their own reality wishlist. At its extremes this has led some to very ill advised trains of thought. Society is what it is though and it pays to get along with people as best you can, whatever we think the laws of the land should be going forward. For what it's worth I wouldn't care less if we cut immigration to zero.

May's well on the road to nowhere but you're right to highlight the lack of leadership potential in other quarters. I can see Boris throwing his hat in but that's about it. May will walk the vote anyway though so it's academic. From there my take is that a second vote is 50 / 50 as crashing out or saying "f*** it we'll remain" are both options that come with their own complications, in part due to not preparing for the former to begin with.

As for you belief that mixed race is the 'solution' for what you think of as racism.......Well ok, in one sense it is. But I have a right to an identity. I never used to value it before when it wasn't under threat..... but now I do....Even you want to eliminate it apparently if I'm reading you right......Would you say the same for Jews?....that they should be mixed out of existence, or blacks....Asians.....Hell, does anyone have a right to an identity? I don't want any identity to be washed away in an utopian mish mash that wouldn't work anyway.

Not a solution as such, but rather an angle which with to reach certain people who are either overly enamoured with their own race, from black to white, or those who fail to relate to those of another race on a meaningful level due to their own mental blocks. By no means am I suggesting that everyone should suddenly hook up with someone of a different race. I'm saying that logically race doesn't matter that much to a great many people and so there will naturally be more of a mix even within existing demographics. As I said, I couldn't care less if future immigration was cut to zero. Your identity and emphasis in life is to a large extent what you make it. You seem to be eager to view your entire identity as something that is inevitably being washed away, is all but dead and gone, and that the country is s*** as consequence. It's your head that got you there, not someone elses genes, colour or newly minted citizenship.

Hardly surprising I suppose given the number of people that have been red carded here for having the audacity to call you out on your unpleasant behaviour and you even more revolting beliefs. That and the mods willingness to oblige you by keeping the number of people with moderate views artificially low.

More of your unpleasant habit of dismissing the messenger to discredit the message. Had you considered that people with reasonable opinions far outnumber those like yourself and that they drop in here once in a while and just share them? No of course you haven't.
