Covid infections, and hospitalisations, are rising again. This time in tandem. However, there is good news too. At the start of the pandemic, in early 2020, pre-vaccines and or treatments, the death rate from Covid was about 20 times worse than from flu. Now, with high numbers of the fully vaccinated and new treatments, the death rate is about the same. So although the vaccines are apparently not stopping infection, they are helping stop severe disease. The infection rate has definitely gone up locally. My bowling partner tested positive yesterday, and as they are clinically vulnerable have been ultra cautious. They blame people thinking it's all over. They are seriously unwell, in bed and isolated as they live alone. Not nice. Then this morning my wife tested positive. She has had no contact with my friend, and nor have I, for over a week. She has a bad cough, headache and feels low, but not too bad. I have a cough and sore throat but so far have tested negative. Was that you I saw selling the Socialist Worker newspaper outside HSBC in Truro today wissie??

My work colleague tested positive for Covid on Wednesday. It was part of the admissions process for her to have an operation. Work has been noticeably quiet on the issue. Everyone knows, and half the staff have been in recent contact with her. I am unsure what the procedure is, for this food production company. surely staff should be informed and getting tested ? Shouldn't food production be suspended ?
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Reminds me of the greatest newspaper headline of all time when Celtic lost to Inverness! Edited by Nicholas91 (11 Mar 2022 7.23pm) The greatest football headline of all time was on the back page of the News of the World, the Sunday after we played our first ever game in the top division. (I was there). We had a new striker, Gerry Queen, who got a goal in the 2-2 draw with Man U. The headline was "Queen scores at the Palace". Philip's involvement went unrecorded.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

There was also famous headline in the Guardian after Gerry got involved in some argey-bargey vs Man City - "Queen in brawl at the Palace". Originally posted by Wisbech Eagle

On a serious note. For anyone that gets Covid I would suggest getting a sats monitor. It clips on your finger and tells you your heart rate and O2 saturation level. I had delta and my heart rate was varying whilst just sitting watching TV. Oddly my heart rate went up but my O2 level went down! My resting heart rate is 66/68 but when this happened it went up to 120. I went for a walk around the garden breathing deeply and it settled. The worst incident was after I returned to work. I was driving home and felt my heart going like the clappers, I also felt dizzy. I had to stop and walk around breathing deeply for fully 5 minutes. Heart issues are a known problem with covid. I was also taking an Aspirin every two days as it makes the blood thinner.
