I personally cant see the hype around cooper! Most of my friends are swans fans and my family are split between palace and swans. Most were doubtfull he would have kept them up next year if they beat Brentford. But we all have doubts he will cut it in the prem with palace and it wont be pretty football either.
I do believe if palace did sign him too there would be a 4/5Mill compensation fee owed to swans, with it being such a gamble id rather that help toward the bringing/luring in of Nuno. His style suits us more.
Cooper for me is a step backwards, whereas Nuno for me is a sign of intent.

I agree - he still has much to prove in my book too.

Of course having said that I will fully support whoever SP decides is the the right man for the job.

I agree. A young up and coming manager who has done a great job against the odds, maybe secured promotions on a shoe string (Critchley at Blackpool) or turned a relegation favourite into play off contender at an unfashionable club (Ismail) would make sense.

I don’t have any particular issue with Cooper - I just don’t think he’s done enough to merit a shot at Palace - Swansea are a well run club and ought to be top half Championship team, so guiding them to the playoffs isn’t a remarkable feat in my view.

A remarkable achievement by Critchley in his first job in club management.
He re-built the squad making about 20 signings.

not surprised by this. I wonder how serious they are about him and visa versa. I read somewhere earlier that Everton were looking at Gerard - that would be some two fingers up at the Bin Dippers. It seems a no brainer that he would pick Everton over us but you never know what his (and their) pre-requisites are. I wouldn't expect Nuno to pick the first club he interviews at, but you'd have to think, if we really have met him several times and like him, that there's an offer on the table already and it's for him to decide.

There's no way Nuno would have been coming here anyway. We'll probably end up with Southgate after the Euros

I saw that Nuno is going to hold talks with Everton, which is not surprising.

Bear in mind absolutely nothing is settled yet. Also, it's going to more difficult and take longer to mould the Everton squad whereas he could build his squad quicker at Palace given the out of contract players.

But, if he does go elsewhere anyone else now is highly likely to be a disappointment to most fans, given the excitement generated.

Typical Palace.

I'm intrigued too. I've no doubt he'd have the work ethic and mentality to succeed. It's just all down to experience at this stage I reckon. He took Chelsea to 9th with all their world class talent. Is he really going to be able to keep us up with ours?

I think he kept them top 4 the previous season which ultimately lead to being winners. In terms of young player development and not being afraid to play them he is tops - of course they have a excellent youth set up and was originally under a FFP ban for poaching youngsters

He probably neglected the £200 million signings - which I doubt he had anything to do with ; he'd have kept Tomori instead of him being loaned out to Milan

They fell to 9th, but his card was already marked after losing a league game to Leicester - they also incidentally lost to them in the final under Tuchel

I dont want Nuno here. He only built a good Wolves side with the help of a Super agent. Not sure Parish would want an agent running our transfer policy.

It would say that we're relaxed and confident about our approach to the hiring process, and confident that we'll have the right person in place. Although I was initially surprised that we weren't on the cusp of signing a new manager as soon as the season finished, it makes sense to see who the movers and shakers are because it broadens the talent pool. If we'd have been in a rush then we wouldn't have been able to have a meeting with Nuno Espirito Santo for example.

Well there is always a positive, to every situation, good thing as well.
And I’m sure Parish, is looking at many on a wish list as well as many an option. I have little doubt about that. It’s the situation in its entirety that is concerning.
Townsend says we don’t know if we work for the club, until a new manager is in place.as Townsend and the rest have been in this situation for months you would think , that added to the fact it rather looks as if Hodgson, was going in the same period .The club would have had someone very much in mind. It also has to be asked if ,as Townsend says, it’s down to a new manager, is someone who says get rid of the lot ,in with a real chance,? Because that option is going to cost a fortune.?
I really think the player situation ,is more important than the manager, not to say the manager is not important , but every manager needs a certain level of real talent to stay in this league for any length of time. No matter who takes this job needs a revamped squad, only the most optimistic, would seriously question that. So I would ask the club , no matter who the manager might be , have you got the where with all , or feel the need to sort these contracts.? And if you don’t want to pick up on our better first choices, can you afford to replace them, and will you.?
Nuno , , is talking to an in a hurry Everton, no surprise there. I can’t help thinking he would settle for their squad over ours. And Everton, will not think to long over personal terms ,and the small matter of a transfer kitty.

I agree. If there's one thing we now know for sure it's that the club didn't have someone formally lined up to replace Roy.

Which was a huge surprise....

Funny read this thread. No one contender for the job seems to have full backing by everyone,

for my part;

Nuno: Not sure where the Hype has come from for this guy - did really well transforming Wolves from a champ outfit to a hit-the-ground-running PL side, which has outlasted The 'difficult second season', but this has been done through acquisitions and some proper coup signings (mounthinho!?) thanks to his associations with Mendes. Is Mendes affiliated with the club or the Manager? Can he perform outside of That environment? one thing is for sure, they Lost Jiminez and Jota, and at times looked like a disaster waiting to happen this season. Saying that, any manager who can get Traore to look like a vague imitation of a footballer, has to have something about him!

Cooper: Good history with youth and England setup. Did well with the Swans without Setting the world alight. The singular Swans fan I know is very much 'Meh' about him leaving. feels a bit like Hodgson who looks to the youth. expect some dire performances. Difficult to expect PL survival. Feels like a good fit for our current state!

Howe: I've said Plenty about Howe on this board. did good on an extended project at Bournemouth which Started in league Z. things got Stale in the PL after 3-4 years here. that sh*t happens to loads of managers. finds it hard to Organise a defence...which coincidentally is the first job here.

Lamps: Hard to call him a failure after his success at Derby(even if it was backed by Chelsea reserves), and 1st season at Chelsea. only fell apart at Chelsea after he was asked to integrate 30 new players into a new team. (which included no defenders). If he had a say in the transfers, then that's on him, if not then it's in the DOF @ Chelsea. Tuchel has come in and done well, but those same new players had had almost a year to acclimatise to each other. and he bought Thaigo Silva.

Dyche: Similar to Hodgson, and therefore uninspiring. probably do alright. seems a pointless move for him though.

Ishmael: Bit of an unknown quantity for me tbh, What I know of him has been written on this thread! based on that probably the most exciting of names in the Hat. no guarantee of success (but then, who is?!)

I just want a manager who fits with the boards ideas and is in with time to work on preseason. At this point, any of the above could fit that profile.
