Martin O'Neil has become a political journalist? Originally posted by Stirlingsays
I don't believe in 'equality'.....I believe in 'fairness'....and in that sense you're correct. Boris could be rinsed by O'Neil because he's said a lot....and I mean a lot of spicy stuff as a journalist and even after. Much of it I agree with but none of it politically correct or prudent for a Prime Minster.....So I'm not surprised he's running. But he will address it eventually....because he has no choice.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Equality of outcomes/fairness is all an interpretation. I would say you believe in of equality of outcomes, just at a different % than others. I've always found the notion of conservatism being destroyed. I think Peter Hitchens has said this too. So, being too lazy to try and figure out what that is, could you provide 5 things that define true conservatism, which the new conservatives have strayed from? A way to illustrate the difference between believing in fairness as opposed to equality....would be say, women's football. If you had 'equality of outcomes', women footballers would be paid the same as male footballers.....Obviously due to the differences in the fiscal value both generate that would be highly unfair to the men's game. For an opposite example....it would be crazy if all fashion models were paid the same when obviously female fashion models are normally the stand out stars. LGBTQ whatever that is. 1) Not too sure if you are referring to the Q or the whole line. Is the conservative stance against it?

There's room for a debate on social conservative v neo liberalism and other stances.....but we probably don't want to get into the weeds on the election thread. Probably needs its own thread, I'll start one tomorrow...going out Christmas shopping. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Nov 2019 1.31pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Nov 2019 1.24pm) But you do believe they should be paid, just not as much yet? Equality of outcome. Doesn't even have to be the women's game. Look at someone like Andy Carroll. Was at West Ham on £90k a week, then compare his record to someone like Glen Murray, who we should never have sold. Is that fair?

Boris is most definitely not wise. He's evasive and slippery – much like his puppet master. That said, I'd probably be doing the same as him to reduce the possibility of losing support by entering into a fair fight. Gamesmanship, calculated cowardice and general shirking – not very honourable but certainly tactically astute. A perfect description of Jeremy Corbyn.
