Absolute rubbish. Yes, you can give Obama credit for getting the US economy back on track, but so did the UK. Wow, so he did it a bit sooner. He also added 9 trillion dollars to the debt, more than any other president. He did nothing else good. Trumps numbers right now on growth, job figures and stock market speak for themselves due to tax cuts, freeing up regulation and renegotiation trade deals. Alienated allies? You mean getting 'fairer' trade deals and getting NATO countries to pay their fair share is what a good president does. He's put some of the toughest ever sanctions on Russia, especially after the Salisbury attack. Solidarity with the UK perhaps? Broken agreements? Paris and Iran deals were all stacked against the US because the moron Obama agreed them and I've explained on other threads. Edited by Penge Eagle (09 Aug 2018 11.39am) I am afraid it's you who posts the rubbish. Nothing that any POTUS could have done would have made any impact so early. Economies just don't react that fast. It has been estimated that the tax cuts will increase the debt level by around 10 times as much as Obama's measures admittedly did. That was needed as a stimulus. Trump's/GOP's tax cuts assume that trickle down economics work, but they never have before. Trump's claims of jobs returning, new factories opening etc etc are just bs. As any businessman knows such things take years to plan and implement. You can criticise agreements if you wish but to break them arbitrarily, without negotiation, establishes a very poor reputation for honesty and integrity. The USA now appears to be a self indulgent bully who cannot be trusted. She has abdicated her role as the de facto leader of the western world and left us all much weaker as a consequence. Trying to destroy NATO adds insult to injury. And he is trying to destroy it with his falsehoods and misunderstandings of it's purpose. Who does this all suit and make look as though they are the architect? Putin's Russia of course. Any additional "sanctions" being applied are just window dressing. Trump has refused to implement many of them and when he has 2 hour long private meetings my traitor antenna is buzzing loudly. With so many other circumstantial events which also support the idea that Trump is controlled by the Kremlin I fully expect that the Mueller enquiry will end up revealing the biggest scandal in US political history. This will damage us all and whatever happens, Putin wins, at least in the short term. Just remember though that bullies never prosper for ever. Eventually they come up against a bigger bully, or people group together to resist them. These are dark days for politics with the very foundations of our western democratic systems under serious threat from the short sighted, feel good, answer that is popularism.

This guy manages to be wrong on just about everything he says. Still, the Trump derangement is amusing and hopefully he's still on the site when Mueller reports......looking forward to this 'biggest scandal in US political history' or what is more likely......him looking pretty foolish. Hopefully he stays for his crow....unlike the fools who ran away from the 'Trump' thread. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Aug 2018 3.26pm)

Wisbeach My comment was not a complaint about being insulted. It was a remark about the fact that the poster was more concerned about making insults than addressing the actual opinions. In other words making "ad hominem" comments. Insults are of no consequence to me as they always say more about the person making them than their intended target. Yes I called Trump supporters "dumb". Of course not all can be. Some must be deranged in some ways, or hold particularly obnoxious political views, but many are very naive and politically uneducated. Therefore "dumb". I have met enough of them personally to have a solid reason for that opinion.

Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Aug 2018 3.26pm) May I make a suggestion that might encourage you to open your eyes and perhaps change your mind. Follow Donald Trump on Twitter and then don't just read his tweets, most of which get publicised anyway, but read the chain of responses to them. Then follow some of the critical ones. There is a huge amount of information there, much of it is not being openly reported in the MSM, presumably because of fear of libel actions or, more likely, because of a publishing embargo from Mueller or the FBI. Now you might think this is all just a "leftish" conspiracy theory but sometimes things just have the smell of truth. There is too much from too many sources. This definitely is a duck. And Trump is behaving like a duck.

Edited by Penge Eagle (09 Aug 2018 4.55pm) Trump himself invented the term as another diversion which is actually quite amusing because the only ones who have "Trump derangement syndrome" are Trump and his gullible base. Of course Obama and Bush argued for larger contributions from NATO members. That's natural and well documented. It was also agreed and all that happened at the last meeting was that they confirmed their objectives. Not that that stopped Trump claiming he had forced them to pay more. Just another lie. It isn't though just speculation. There is plenty of evidence to support it, some of it public, some of it not but looking pretty substantial and some circumstantial but still very potent. If it isn't true then there are a serious of fantastic coincidences in play.
