Here's my take on the results.

UKIP wiped out because they no longer serve a purpose and have a rubish leader.
Labour hammered because they are lead by a throwback socialist.
Lib Dem - no gains, similar to 2010 when people thought they'd grow.
Conservitaive gains because they are pecieved to be doing a good job running the country.
Gains for other parties as some Labour voters switch to anyone else but the Tories.

Strange that no statements from Labour have been released today. I think Junker and Corbyn should have both resigned after the referendum but from recent events neither show any sign of movement as they are both as they are both as stubbon deluded and useless as each other.

A statement which is utterly incredible. They have done a shockingly bad job. Continued austerity damaging the economy and people's lives being used as a mask for an ideology of rolling back the state, u-turns aplenty, a botched EU referendum, party infighting, NHS in terminal decline, junior doctors strikes, infrastructure under-investment, Gove's record on education and huge cuts in spending on education, growing public debt despite austerity (actually because of austerity), cuts to council budgets, cuts to disability benefits, cuts to policing, cuts to public services, cuts in inheritance tax, cuts in top rate of income tax, cuts in corporation tax rate, cuts in spending on the environment, cuts in spending on housing, cuts in spending on health, stagnant (and high levels of) inequality, selling off assets to the far east, low levels of productivity, No progress on current account deficit, no progress on shrinking the deficit (despite grand claims), no success on claims of reducing net immigration, no progress on housing crisis... F*cking brilliant job.

As a person I find him quite likeable.

As a politician I don't think I've ever agreed with anything he has said. He comes across as a supplicant.

He is wet..so wet....He's the kind of person who could enter the ocean and come out dryer than he went in.

There's a meltdown in Cambridge.

If only it was contained to such a small part of the UK.

And who said i was a Scottish Nationalist? I never have. Come on. Who's been telling porkies? Or, perhaps, as is more likely you have just imagined it.

Having said that i would rather the mother-country was not dragged down as well as England by you nutty Hard Brexiteers so if that means it goes its own way sobeit.

Ah Kermy...I do give you some stick but I'm glad you're on here.

Devon though....The socialist in Devon!

Yeah, actually I do think someone that interested in advocating that people live a certain way should also live that way themselves.

That's not Devon.

Well actually...of course you can live there....It's just that you have to put up with us taking the p-ss a bit.

Puerile I know...but sue me.

Indeed.

Very worrying. How accurate a barometer for the GE it is remains to be seen. I imagine Labour will be clinging on to the fact that turnout will be lower in locals than GE and generally turnout is a lot more variable among Labour voters than Tories.

Turkeys and Christmas come to mind.

Andy Burnham easily wins mayoral contest in Manchester. Just shows you what moderate Labour politicians can achieve.

What has he achieved? He won an election, something which 'moderate' Labour has rarely managed to do in the past decade. But that's not 'achieving' anything. As a politician, your record should be based on what you do for people, not your capacity to win elections.

As a politician you can't do much if you're not elected.
