Let's not forget that while we can let rip at the obvious fruitcakes on the left....we need to recognise that these 'fruitcakes' are actually the ones in power.....taking the p1ss out of them for decades made zero difference. They say you live in a democracy, but the truth is that most of the people who make the decisions that affect you weren't elected but are corporations or institutional appointments.....and they are practically all left wing and progressive. They run the corporations, they run the institutions, they run the universities and they run the media.....they even took over the social policy of the Tory party. When we look at Khan in London....don't forget that it was the Tory party that allowed the non stop immigration over many decades that changed the demographics in our capital city....changing it from an English city into something like an old Benetton advertising campaign. The old Tory party lied to their members and the country for decade upon decade about immigration. They said one thing and did the opposite. Never forget they wanted the London you now have....indeed, they celebrate immigration now....they took the Brexit vote, which was mainly about immigration and made it about secondary concerns. When we throw out hands up at the Met....run by that terrible Cressida Dick....lets us not forget that it was a Tory...Amber Rudd who appointed her. She celebrated her promotion. The Met commissioner is no accident....no leftist plant. Democracy is mostly a sham....votes are mainly controlled by the media who act as gatekeepers....they set the ideas put to the public just as much as the politicians and the parties follow in step. Brexit was the rarest of set backs for them...the exception to the rule. We don't have free elections because the game and options are narrowed as much as possible right from the start. The actual Tory leadership celebrate Brexit today but let us not forget that the actual Tory leadership under Cameron didn't want Brexit and campaigned against it. Indeed, without UKIP's pressure up against the Conservatives Brexit would never have even been an offered vote.

Interesting post Stirling. I suppose if you believe in fairy tales then it could be considered interesting as it's convoluted reasoning stumbles towards the imaginary happy ending of Brexit. For those of us who prefer reality is just another tedious chain of familiar claims and conspiracy theories which don't bear too much resemblance to the real world. What it has to do with this thread is the real question. Maybe some people are already preparing their excuses on why the Brexit bonus isn't yet here. Come on, it's only been 2 days. You can take a little longer than that! We rejoiners are not that uncharitable.

What a surprise now that we have a Democrat President it's suddenly time to crack down on the street protests. Whilst no-one could ever support the criminals who exploit opportunities presented by genuine protest the need to carefully time a move against them in the fevered atmosphere that seems to have existed there is critical. You don't want to turn large numbers of genuine protestors into criminals. Allowing them to know that a President isn't going to send in a paramilitary force to carry out the task, with all the collateral damage that would follow, and that it will be handled locally, makes perfect sense. This then is probably the earliest it could have been done. In the age of Trump this isn't political. It's just common sense.
