Yes, but i wouldn't criticise Noades too much for that because at least he got it done and opened up cheap tickets to loads of Palace fans. He was an arrogant man but his heart was definitely with Palace. I don't think it would be that difficult to roof over that corner as part of a new roofing scheme for the Arthur and because of that I would leave seating in that area until a decision is made on improving the Arthur. You don't really want totally uncovered seats, or standing areas, in a modernised ground.

Noades love for Palace stemmed mostly from his right arse cheek, where his wallet sat. That's why he separated the stadium ownership from the club so that he could fleece maximum revenue from CPFC, Charlton and Wimbledon without risk of any of that money staying inside the football club. Leaving the club cash-strapped constantly meant that our best players were always sold in order to pay the bills that Noades' stadium company was sending.

Selling the club - but not the stadium - to a clearly unfit and unprepared owner tells you all you need to know about his love for the club. If he truly cared about the club, he would've told Goldberg to do one.

Regards the stadium ownership, Noades said that if the ground deal had not been separate, city investors would have meant the club losing the ground after the administration involving Goldberg.

Regards the Goldberg deal, my understanding is that Goldberg initially offered £30 Mill but came up with around £23 Mill. At completion Goldberg only had £18 Mill so Noades lent him £5 Mill to complete the deal.Noades offered to stay on for a year to allow Goldberg to settle in but Goldberg wanted to run the club straight away.

Noades separated the stadium and club long before Goldberg came along. It solidified his revenue because, regardless of how many showed up for a game, he got a fixed rent from the club. That's why the club was always broke and could never get ahead, because it was being bled dry by Noades.

As to the sale to Goldberg, you are merely confirming that Noades knew he was unfit to the own the club because he did not have the funds necessary to buy it, let alone run it. I mean, this was the plot of "Lock, Stock", FFS! When 'Atchet 'Arry lends Eddy the money to continue playing the hand.

I was talking about the main stand/Holmesdale corner and you're talking about the Holmesdale/Arfur corner which won't be ready for yonks after if/when the main stand is finished.

Again, you cannot link the Holmesdale and main stand. Even the pictures show you can't.

I beg to differ...when it was built there was a model of the proposed full Selhurst park renovation in his office which showed all four stands having the same roof line covering the corners....the fact it turned out that the houses built behind on the old school grounds subsequently meant that couldnt happen as the depth of the Main Stand needed to be reduced substantially from what was anticipated wasn't known at the time...but it explains the reasoning for the roof on the holmesdale.

In addition he wanted a roof design that projected sound onto the pitch...which to be fair it does.

The Holmesdale roof is completely different to the model Noades showed off. It looked like mini Wembley. I remember seeing the Holmesdale roof and shaking my head.

That is correct. So long as the portacabin offices are there the Main Stand and Holmesdale must be separate.

Noades didn’t love the club and the fans didn’t love him. Hence the song about his mother. Which I’m sure made it abundantly clear to him, how we felt about him. This would have have tampered any love that he had for the club. It was purely a business relationship for Uncle Ron.

I knew the guy reasonably well, didn't like him particularly but whenever he spoke about Palace he was always passionate. He won't be the first or last owner of a club who puts business ahead of pleasure though, so I sort of agree and disagree with you. There have been worse owners of clubs out there.

Noades did build a stand and upgrade and refurbish another when we had no money so he achieved more than the current lot as it is.

Not knocking his achievements but we had 'no money' because of the set up of companies that meant money was evaporating out of the club to really drive it forward. I even heard that Hynes who built the wh end when it stopped being a one tier terrace was connected to Ron. He had a very successful reign that was tainted by this and selling to a berk when he knew it fail badly. Parish has been successful on the pitch with spending fortunes more than he probably needed to for reasons we all know of making our net spend higher in the league than our league position and revenue streams.

Parish is behind Noades in achievements weighing this up but if he achieves the main stand something similar to the plans and progress or the go ahead on the other stands and it's actually being paid off without us tumbling down the football pyramid then he will supersede Noades, Arthur, the pope and God.

Wow!!
A wonderful new stadium, subject to planning that will see capacity increased to some 34,000.
Personally, would rather funds be earmarked to keeping us in the top tier, rather than possible relegation and playing in a shiny new stadium, in front of a crowd of 7000 against say,Wigan in the lower leagues.
