I didn't want Roy, for all the reasons, but at this point I would be very happy. He would get us the stability, structure and the players we need to prepare for next season. Right now, given our options and the time factor, I would give him a go. He's no Pardew and is desperate to finish on a high.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'David Moyes' by Guntrisoft I think we should appoint David Moyes as our new Manager, no one can deny he did a good job at Everton on a low budget. Must fans will say NO just because of the Zaha debate, but we cant turn away a good Manager for sentimental feelings for one player. Edited by cpfccolin (30 May 2017 10.24am)

He looked devoid of ideas and bereft of any tactical nous whatsoever. His squad selections were also dull and unimaginative simply selecting players based on the club they played for rather than their ability or form. He was forever trying to get Phil Jones into the team in any position that needed filling, even when not fit. His decision to take Wilshere to France and then play him was a huge mistake, but a totally predictable one. The players looked totally shot of confidence and clearly had no faith in Hodgson or his "tactics". He'd have Benteke taking corners for us and Wilf on the bench given his record of not bothering with wingers.

I think Hodgson would be a good choice. Plenty of experience with only real difficulties at Liverpool. That can happen - remember Clough at Leeds. His reputation has been rubbished due to one game really - England v Iceland. He is also from Croydon of course (went to my school!). What about the 3 group games before that. Barely beat Wales and two limp draws against pretty poor Russia and Slovakia sides. I think you're also forgetting the debacle in the 2014 world cup (bottom of the group with 1 point and played terribly). We were also got played off the park by Italy in 2012 and were lucky only to lose on penalties. Ironically this was his best tournament and the one he had least to do with seeing as he only became manager a short while before. He won 3 games in 3 tournaments, none of which were knockouts. I think his reputation has been rubbished by a lot more than one game. His decision making and squad and team selections in all three tournaments were questionable at best as well. In my opinion he was an abysmal England manager. I'd be very disappointed with Hodgson, but would obviously hope he ended up doing a good job.

With not being overwhelmed with the choices available to become our new manager, would KP be worth a punt? I see he could be a shout for the Sunderland post,im thinking him working along side Sammy Lee could be a good combo,i know it would be a risk but the others mentioned dont fill me with confidence. No

Edited by cpfccolin (30 May 2017 10.24am) A manager on serious decline. Has to rebuild his stock in the championship. Would of said yes after Man Utd sacking but his Spanish adventures and Sunderland shows his on the decline.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'David Moyes' by Guntrisoft Sunderland you cant include as they was destined to go down, & Man U he wasn't really given the chance. What he achieved at Everton he cant just lose overnight its still there and I think he could do a great job for us
