To want limits to immigration is not hate speech or even that nationalist. I'm not at all interested in flags. However, I don't want any more Somalis moving to Britain. I don't believe they are all backward barbarians and can see how that could be described as hate speech.
I will be explicit about my reasoning on Somalia and indeed most non-EU immigration: they add nothing to the country (unless they have specific job skills we require) and are likely to be a burden to the state and ultimately me - the tax payer.
I have also stated before that I believe many elements of the Islamic faith are not compatible with very cherished, and hard-won, Western European values. I also do not see much evidence that integration has worked at all.
I am not right wing at all. In fact, there is absolutely no way I would ever vote Tory and I am active in my trade union.
I just can't agree with this 'everyone is alright', 'the more diversity the better', post-colonial guilt narrative.
I'm not talking about raising the draw bridge. Perhaps proper border controls and much better visa and immigration checks would be my starting point. And yes, I would deport illegal immigrants - I just don't see them as my, or your, problem. I apologise for my lack of charity.

Strange then that the prime allowance on the recent brexit deal is to control our borders and who comes in yet all everyone is doing is slating the deal.
Lots got what they voted for.

err yes I saw that. Lazy journalism but quite some way from an Orwellian conspiracy.

and lots didn't but more importantly what incentive would the EU have to give us a good free trade deal if we're stuck in a customs union and unable to leave voluntarily? The deal is pants.

Agreed. That's why we should just tell them to blow it out of their ass & leave them too it.

Well, it's highly likely they are.....but I understand the sentiment.

It's unfortunate that a genetic heritage and a political institution can get conflated.....seen it on both sides of the political fence.

The vote was very close.
2% difference.
So why should the deal be flat out leave and stuff it.
Surely the deal should also factor in the wants of the remainers.
Just because leave won it doesnt mean that remainers have to be totally blown out.
That would be undemocratic even though there was a winner.

Quite honestly I'd prefer no deal to the crap deal May is peddling. After all if I put one foot in a bucket of iced water and the other in boiling water the average is great but I'm still off to A&E.

That's first pass the post though and it's the system we operate under.

We don't do proportional representation......the reason PR isn't that popular....even if it's more democratic is that you end up with fence sitting.....a can continually being kicked down the road.

A donkey is a horse designed by PR.....For me....Give me Thatcher or give me Corbyn....Give me someone who has a f-ing vision.......Not these watered down lily-livered wet weasels.

I'm off for another JD and coke.

And without wishing to appear pedantic the difference was actually 4%.
