SA are really not in a position to declare any country as genocidal. The source of the filing is largely irrelevant - they're citing international law, not their own domestic law.

International law is kind of a talking shop.....It's a 'one world government' fantasy that's been around in different forms since the end of WW1. Who is going to enforce 'international law' onto a country that disagrees with the judgement? In effect it's a form of words for 'victor's justice', so the big boys get to decide who faces it.....and they or their friends never will. The concept of 'International law' causes more problems than it solves.....Personally I regard things like the Geneva convention as having been more effective as it was more consensual. However, I'm somewhat against this notion that war over territory can be fought nicely....because the reality is that it can't. The only way you can avoid 'war crimes', is when two militaries turn up in a field and kill each other. As soon as war involves cities or built up areas then you have babies dying under rubble. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Jan 2024 3.22pm) Sure, but there is still scale within that. War is war, but I'd again cite the consistent use of dumb bombs, the bombing of hospitals, refugee camps etc. which are generally off-limits even in times of war, preventing food and aid from reaching civilians - I'm not saying war can ever be fought nicely, but there is still a scale within how bad it has to be. The rate of civilian deaths, the ratio of civilian/military casualties, and other such objective measures all point to this being an extreme campaign, even in the context of war.

Well I'd certainly agree.....some wars have more war crimes than others is probably the way to think about it.

Israel have gone for it. What was it that Lenin said, 'there are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.'

Israel has offered proposals for after the war. Which include,..."A multi-national force would take charge of rebuilding the territory after the widespread destruction caused by Israeli bombing." So who is going to pay for the rebuilding ? Israel ? Western Arms companies ? or could it possibly be,...European tax payers ? And still aid is denied to the Palestinians who are being bombed, shot and forced to flee.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Isis blew up and killed 80 odd people yesterday; Muslim people. Why is that? 1. Israel are killing, on average, 200 civilians a day, totalling over 20,000 - a one off attack killing 80 people is relatively small in that context. Plain as your nose is right. You can keep looking for nonsensical comparisons (it was the poll tax, it’s now this) until the cows come home - none of it is going to make any justification of this action make any sort of logical sense.

I suppose if you're going to have your home blown up it might as well be for a comedy sketch. As for two state solutions...the politicians bringing out that line of waffle are still promoting the tooth fairy. It's not justice but it's the consequences of the decisions that past 'foreign influenced' US administrations made.....money, not justice nor principles win in the end. [Tweet Link]
