This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This is true. I don't care if an athlete shags trees or people but taking the coverage of the Winter Olympics from the BBC we were being told of athletes' sexual prteferences and journeys to being "out " for example before anything on their sporting prowess. This is very BBC , I strongly feel time for the Beeb to stand on its own not rely on taxpayers to fund their agenda. Millions wasted on Cliff Richard case. Totally off original topic but please don"t remove as it's related to media etc quote=Hrolf The Ganger;3360599] The sports media bend over backward to promote all things minority and or female. What media have you been looking at?

What a stupid thing to say, YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ARYAN ACTUALLY MEANS BUT ARE USING IT INCORRECTLY TO ESTABLISH SOME TENUOS POLITICAL CONNECTION TO GERMAN NAZIS As for Mo Salah, I love the fact he doesn't need a hip image , he is just a brilliant footballer Originally posted by taylors lovechild
Matt Le Tissier is a pretty old example. He retired 15 years ago.

Also, I used Aryan specifically (and in honesty, hyperbolically) due to the Mail's support of the Nazis in the 1930s (to be fair, they were not the only right-wing paper to support fascism). I simply stated my opinion, so I have no idea why you are getting so upset. The Sun and The Mail have had to issue a number of retractions in the last few years (I'm not going to list them, google can do so if you're bothered) where they have tried to paint a story based on race, so it doesn't seem a seismic leap to think perhaps their editorial position has leaked through to the sports pages. You don't agree with me, that's fine. I stated my opinion and I'm not going to change it because you used capitals. When the right-wing media stop printing front page headlines as to why foreigners are to blame for everything I might start believing that they are not racist.

In that game Zaha was under instructions to stop Walker from attacking which he did magnificently. Hodgson identified Walker as pivotal but Wilf kept him so busy that he didn’t attack until Wilf switched wings. Far from being a bad game for Wilf it was one of his best for the team ! You on a wind up? Our best attacking player was instructed to stop a defender from attacking? I’ve heard all now! Walker was the only full back last season to have Wilf in his pocket. Too much pace and power. Walker is the best RB in the world in my opinion (behind AWB of course). Hodgson recognised this and switched wings so he could have a go at the other full back with more success.

You have to remember that Walker was given carte blanche by the ref to kick, throw and shove Wilf around wherever he liked, as was the case when he used to play for Spurs.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I apologise for calling you stupid, I have checked and Harry Kane is indeed on of the ancient peoples of the Iran/Indian cradle of civilisation. To be honest I used upper case as the keyboards on my laptop was locked and I couldn't be bothered to change it as I tyoed but in hindsight probably a " good miss " Originally posted by taylors lovechild

Ok. Can you let me know what instructions he has been getting from Hodgeson this week in training , if our £135,000 a week forward and most likely game changer will be used to stop the threat of James Milner on Monday , I might give it a miss. Different game so different tactics plus we are in a much better shape than last winter.

It wasn’t the first time a top player was used to stop another top opponent - go back to Bobby Charlton and Beckenbaur in the 66 World Cup final and there are a load more examples.

I apologise for calling you stupid, I have checked and Harry Kane is indeed on of the ancient peoples of the Iran/Indian cradle of civilisation. I don't think I was rude in my response, but again you persist. As I stated, I was using Aryan in a provocative way due to The Mail's links to fascism in the 1930s. The term Aryan was misappropriated due to links made between Sanskrit and the Germanic language. The Germanic languages include English. Now, I am not a historian, but I think you'll find (I am happy to be corrected) Aryan was misappropriated by white northern Europeans who saw themselves as a master race. Yes, Wikipedia does give you a history lesson on the origins of the word Aryan, but as I stated earlier I was using it in a different context.

Correct. Originally describing peoples as "Aryan" was not a statement about race at all but about geography, culture, religion and linguistic heritage. The Nazi-advocated idea that the Germans were part of an "Aryan" race system was therefore bollocks, and even if it were appropriate to use the term to describe race it would have included a whole lot of other races that Hitler would hardly have regarded as "pure". The Germanic languages are descended from proto-Indo-Europen but not from Sanskrit. Their latest common ancestor was Proto-Indo-European. Sanskrit was in the Indo-Iranian branch of Indo-European descendancy, Germanic in one of the European branches. The two subtrees are distiguished by the correspondence of s in the former to c (hard "k" sound) in the languages further west, and the c moved to h in the first Germanic sound shift, as exemplified by the following words for "hundred": Sanskrit satem
