I just don’t think you’ve been concentrating The rhetoric only ever was to slow the transmission of the virus to allow for the development of better ways of coping and to prevent a sudden massive spike in hospital admissions. Remember ‘flattening the curve’?

Anyway nurses changed the coverings today....there's a big hole in my arm...and it's rather weird to have a big hole in your arm...couldn't stop staring at it.

Remember ‘flattening the curve’? I'd say that's so reductionist as to be half truths. For example, we are still under certain restrictions.....you yourself were boosting about the ability to fire people....something that's increasingly pointless. But do we really want to repeat these worn out arguments.

I had one once from a speedboat accident in Brighton and it is strange to see your own ulna. Still, gives you somewhere to keep your loose change.

Yep, I definitely don't recommend big holes in limbs. It's feeling better each day though....no painkillers today.

The government was always clear the intention was to flatten the curve I neither boosted nor boasted I simply described. If you had watched a wave of deaths hit a care home you would not be so cavalier about taking all steps to prevent infections amongst the most vulnerable.

While I have always disagreed over the extent of the covid response, being someone who supported the long standing original approach, this was always a disaster for us, regardless. I do empathise with you in your role, which is not an easy one.

What’s the death rate from omicron in care homes? While I could understand the desire to have all staff vaccinated before, I struggle to see the need or point with omicron. It could end up counter productive. Trying to stop residents getting effectively a cold but not having the numbers to provide decent care and resources. Many were sent home from hospital to kill, I mean save them all in 2020, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Many were sent home from hospital to kill, I mean save them all in 2020, so I wouldn’t be surprised. You couldn’t be more wrong. This is no cold. Researchers working with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) believe it has "substantial" resistance to natural immunity provided by previous infections. Early research shows it reduces two doses of Pfizer to 30 percent effectiveness, with AstraZeneca potentially down to zero. While the booster can reforge it back to 75 percent, the programme is still some distance from covering everyone, meaning many are at Omicron's mercy. Preliminary studies published in the UK and South Africa have found between 30 percent and 70 percent fewer people require hospital treatment. We don’t yet know to what extent as it is so early, but we do know this variant is a killer. I know some who have been very ill with it. Note also that Delta is still rife, currently we have a dual epidemic
