Another one not reading anything I post. I literally said things now aren't the same as they were for my parents generation a page or so back. Doesn't mean we've reached any point where racism is not an issue or has been eradicated. Failing to see where this chip on my shoulder is but whatever, that's your assertion of me, not arsed to try and change that at all, influencing the opinion internet strangers have of me is very very low on my to do list. Not my assertion; one of the black friends you assumed I never had.

The concepts of egalitarianism, especially the mythical equality are not stressed in either Asian nor African societies, only European ones. And mainly only since around the sixties....ever wondered why that is?....You can track the use of particular words within society and it reveals how culture changes. Unfortunately there is a tendency within British culture to be trusting of their elites....eg 'lions led by donkeys'. Most people aren't that political and just accept and do what they are told. They have jobs and mortgages....well, the lucky ones have mortgages, some even paid off. They don't look and compare their society's past to their present and ask awkward questions.....because they are told that means they are sexist or racist or some other 'ist'.....more invented scare words. All served up by a political class and their supporters who have failed and worsened society over decades.....and like the old soviets think that if only those who disagreed with us weren't there it'll all be fine.

I think it has hit home that our precious family Christmas is not happening this year. It is so quiet in our house with no grandchildren to distract me or laugh at my silly jokes or antics. I've already tried starting an argument with Mrs Plumpton but she saw through my strategy and easily deflected it. It was a big mistake watching the "Queens Gambit" with her earlier this month. In the spirit of Christmas, perhaps we should cease all hostilities and meet in no mans land for a game of football? Obviously, I will want to take the knee before play commences but I might need help getting back up again. I sometimes think that, for me, going to Palace is a similar concept. Over a long time, a group of about 8-12 of us (it varies)has formed and meet up in the Railway Mens club pre game. We cover a wide age range and come from different backgrounds and walks of life. It is like a little haven where we rarely, if ever, talk about politics or many things other than Palace and football. I love it and really miss it. Anyway, I would like to sincerely wish all contributors a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. COYP

It’s quite reassuring that while Palace are playing everyone here, no matter their opinion on anything else, is going through the same sense of dread and unease with occasional delight at the same time.
