Wait for the manifestos... When are they out?

Opposition manifestos are a fantasy. Everyone but the totally gullible knows it.
The Green's is always good for a laugh. Labour's under Corbyn should be comedy gold.

I would like whoever is in power to review the NHS from top to bottom. Everything from funding and training to use and where private health fits in. The trouble is it will take years and anyone who mentions it in a manifesto will get slaughtered and accused of trying make cuts. We cannot carry on the way we are it was never designed to do what it is currently expected to do.

Couldn't not agree more, the huge swathes of people that use it now.
Because it's now so big there are far to many "managers" on huge salaries that could be spent on front line services.
The waste within the NHS is huge.

And just to add throwing endless money at it is probably not the way to fix it.

The inconvenient truth.
The use of paper towels upwards needs scrutinising.

Absolutely right. I'd start with the Contract Management and Tendering teams within the NHS, as they're either incompetent, corrupt or stitched up by illegal collusion between the bidders.

A pal of mine who worked in the NHS for about twenty years once told me that it was literally impossible to be sacked for incompetence or failure to perform duties. Whether the management feared the unions, or (which I think is more likely) there was simply a gentlemen's agreement to lead a quiet life, I don't know. But that's the sort of extreme sloppiness that occurs when money is endlessly poured into an organisation.

I've been told the same.

Frankly the NHS is ripe for reform but no one has the balls, left or right, to do it.

Perhaps there is a happy medium somewhere....I'm not sure that many people want an NHS that operates like Sports Direct.

While the population continues to rise then the amount of money will continue to rise.

Even without immigration that's a successful reality.

The argument is about the proportion of GDP.....aren't we amongst the lowest in Europe?
