A colleague at work is a big Liverpool fan and subscribes to their text alerts. One received this morning states that Liverpool have accepted a 30m bid for Benteke. Direct Liverpool sources confirming this to their fans... Interesting... Didn't say what club though and given Parish saying no business this week, what should be believe?!

Its only a hunch but I don't think we have heard the last of this. Liverpool clearly want rid. They want his wages off the books but more importantly they need the money to fund incoming players that they want. We are clearly not offering the asking price (or a deal would have been struck) but we seem to be the club that's offering the most attractive package to Liverpool/Benteke or it wouldn't have been so strongly rumoured it'll be Palace he joins. The longer this goes on the more twitchy Liverpool may become. They need the money and they know (if Palace wont budge) the chances are (hopefully) we will move on to other targets leaving them with not enough money in their transfer kitty and a player they don't want. I would not be too surprised if common sense prevails and both parties thrash out a deal in the next few days. Having said all of this I am really not overly bothered if he comes or not. I'd be just as happy (more) with Bony who'd probably be slightly cheaper or another decent striker that can finish.

However, I think we definitely do need another tall, powerful lone striker at the club owing to Wickham's injury record.

Agreed, With Campbell being offered round the Championship, Gayle sold, Chamakh released, Adebayor gone we are pretty much down to just one striker in Wickham currently and he has a poor fitness record. In my opinion we need 3 strikers brought in but absolute minimum we have surely got to bring 2?
