It looks as though Parish can deliver financially, architecturally and structurally. The council sound like they're edging that way. Its the big matter of needing Sainsburys land and any objections from locals that Parish is taking the tactic of putting it out there rather than not getting anywhere. Now the council are look positively at it I think Parish is probably pushing it along quicker than trying to get Sainsburys to agree first. Whether it costs more or less the way he's gone, who knows? It's their investment that's being saved or used rather than transfer funds so their risk. Absolutely. At the same time being transparent with supporters as to what has been planned for the much needed rejuvenation of the stadium. At the same time counters the accusation made here and there of supporters saying that there has been talk of an upgrade for a few years but it has all gone quiet.

BexleyDave Thank You. I was just countering criticism of the AMEX with comments that the same people who designed it have designed ours and that our new Main Stand looks remarkably like a stand at their ground viewed from pitch level.
Why didnt you say that then?

My initial thought when looking at the stand from the pitch elevation is that it looks a relatively bland stand, but the make of of the interior and the rear of it look far better than anything at the AMEX. The one area that Brighton certainly exceeds anything we have is their training facility...ironically KSS again...now that is beautiful... I thought my post had a contextual element to it but alas there are those who view it differently and that is a matter for them.

Why didnt you say that then? If you care to read my posts you will have seen that I mentioned about the similarities. But as you are clearly more interested in hurling barbs in my direction than perusing content I can understand why you have posed the question.

Why announce the stadium plan if it hasn't been approved? Sorry to say but very Palace and amateurish. Silly to get people's hopes up before anything has been made official. Westfield announced their plans to build on the Whitgift Centre site in Croydon many years ago. It has only just got full approval, but not a digger will break any ground until 2019.

Originally there was talk of either a brand new stadium located elsewhere or a rejuvenation of 'Selhurst Park' "Stand by stand" so the narrative was that if we remained in situ, all 4 stands would be replaced. Whilst of course the new Main Stand looks rather magnificent and the overall upgrade most welcome and impressive , clearly only one of the 4 stands will see a significant improvement and we will still have the outdated 'Arthur Wait'. That said, projects can change depending on circumstances and finances and it is welcoming to see committment to upgrading the facilities at the ground - it is very much needed ! A great deal of effort has gone into where we are now and I dare say the road ahead will also be littered with obstacles. Sounds like the narrative is the same. Upgrade the main stand increase attendance. And if and when we regularly fill that then think about the other stands? No point making them all bigger now if it's not needed, yet / if ever.

No point making them all bigger now if it's not needed, yet / if ever. With the Arthur being the biggest stand with the worst access you couldn't work on it first without a substantial reduction in capacity. I think the Arthur is 8,000 seats, which is exactly the same as the proposed main stand expansion...
