I know you find these things hard to believe but parliaments have voted for wars....which make countries poorer....giant welfare reforms....which also make them poorer....and many other situations. In many situations the public has been in majority support for them as well......When I was a teenager I can remember Thatcher getting her second term on the back of the Falklands war......a very costly exercise financially. You have been told multiple times on this thread that people voted in the knowledge that we would take an economic hit. You just ignore replies and repeat statements that have been answered many times. Edited by Stirlingsays (01 Dec 2018 10.02pm) No, you are wrong. It's the will of the people remember? The will of the people wouldn't vote for war, The will of the people wouldn't vote for austerity and The will of the people wouldn't have voted to leave the EU if it meant they would be poorer as a result.

I've just explained how they did.....Giving a couple examples....Look, how much clearer can it be. Britain went to war over the Falklands and Thatcher was re-elected on with a massive majority the next year. The country voted majority leave with the government and most of the media in the country constantly telling them it would make them poorer.....Remain had a massive funding advantage over leave and spent most of its focus on the economic argument....It was continually about how leave would make us poorer and pretty much instantly......I even received a tax payer funded leaflet from the government through the door telling me how it was likely we would go into a recession.....then we found out that Osborne would give us a punishment budget. You just deny reality.

That's not to say I agree with anything else you say. Well, that's going to be tough for me to take but, with the right support, I daresay I'll get over it.

That sounds like a teenager responding to not being European anymore. ‘I’m European, not British’ banners. Charming. You know what you can do then, or not. Edited by Rudi Hedman (02 Dec 2018 10.47am)

Talk this morning of The Maybot calling a General Election if she doesn't get her way. I wonder if this is just another scare tactic for her MPs because it doesn't make sense. The Tory party like the country is split so what are you voting for? If you are a Tory but don't want the deal how do you vote? Same applies to Labour their position is rather unclear so if you are voting for Corbyn what exactly are you voting for? It would only make sense if the Tory party was 100% behind Theresa but she didn't have the votes in Parliament to pass it as labour was a Remain party. She could then ask the country vote for me and this deal or vote Labour and Remain a clear choice. I don't think a General Election at this stage will resolve anything.

Watched it and I pretty much disagreed with most points Fry made.
