He got diagnosed 4 years ago aged 18. If it was there before then he had no symptons. What you state about being unfit is common sense. In and of itself being unfit only gives you a worse chance.
Add stress or mental health issues to that and its the perfect storm of illness. Maybe covid hits this bracket of people more but how do you measure stress?
There is a lot at play with covid and a 99% survival rate is high until its 100 out of every 100,000. If 90 % of those 100 are in your bracket then why the other 10 ?

When he was diagnosed had he been having symptoms which was the reason for the testing?

Unfit and unhealthy are not the same thing. (I said healthy not unfit)

Here is an example a professional footballer is unfit to play todays game this doesn't mean he is not healthy it works the other way as well a person can be fit but unhealthy.

Stress levels can be measured doctors use (PSS) its questionnaires but you can do it correctly you may of heard of "cortisol"

Lots of variables regarding covid this is the point I kept stating people are making claims which does not show cause it would be the same if I replied saying your sons diabetes was caused 100% by the donut he had the day before he went for the test next I post up a few links and quotes which go on about not even people in your sons age group or people who had multi family members also with diabetes type 1 yet lets say you dont have any.

My son is type 1.
The question I asked was how did he get it.
The answer was no one knows its all about genetics.
Now type 2 can be diet and lifestyle affected.
How much though is again unknown, its like saying all smokers will get cancer through smoking. This isn't the case and a majority of people who get cancer in their lives live a very healthy lifestyle. As with type 1 and type 2 and how covid affects you its majorly down to genetics. Yes us fatties and smokers have a better chance of dying but lots without vices have and will die.
The science is primarily about trying not to catch it in the first place.

That is so sad to read cryrst. I am sure he is coping well though

Presumably you’ve done your research. I hadn’t realised it’s an autoimmune reaction (probably). [Link]

That suggests Covid could be something best avoided

Thanks for your kind words and yes its a team effort.
avoidance is the best action and we are all jabbed and boosted bar my older son who just got over covid.
It does state that lifestyle cannot cause type 1 but a trigger can; be that physical or psychological who knows?
Type 2 yes but that's a whole different ball game.
He's had a double whammy though as he's also coeliac poor sod.

I guess that’s quite common and sure must complicate life

My heart goes out to your family but at least these days people understand being gluten free.

The condition does ally type 1.
In some shops and restaurants plant based and vegan seems to be more important when you look at the shelves and menus.. Fads overtake facts. I guess it's the money and some people choose gluten free but not as many as plant or vegan so they cater for the masses. Hey ho , one day it may change.

The positives for your son is if he follows the diet correctly he will end up with a diet which is close to how our species is suppose to eat.

All about the money not health the only time they care about your health is as we first saw with this covid it looked like the death rate would be very high for everyone.

The data came in that was not the case it switched back to long term strategy of making money.

This is the case with most diseases now people may of seen I mentioned it in my posts before its a disease management industry now not prevent or cure.

If you really did study nutrition, I suggest you stick to The Effects of Date Fruit Consumption on Breast Milk Quantity along with others from your Department of Nutrition and leave others who are in a better position to do so to advise on the issues at hand. If you insist on constantly being destructive about expertise available using misinformation or worse, why not provide your own data and truly enlighten us.

Perhaps you can let us know which study was your thesis and we can read it for ourselves.

Back again I see still not offering anything of value.

Every time you post again you come out with more and more ridiculous claims.

The study you mention shows nothing.

You want to prove what regarding nutrition? fruit is healthy? ok show a long term controlled study you cant no such study has ever been done or will ever be conducted.

The only what they class as long term studies are questionnaire ones this is what a lot of nutrition science is built on its junk.

How would you read my thesis it is not published online you do not even understand how the education system works.

One of the only reliable studies about our species correct diet is N15 isotope tests.

As I said before in the other post you want to discus nutrition open another thread and present what you want.

You are one of those people who believe in calorie counting I bet and RDA when they are not even science based. (I expect you will post a link up claiming they are in another thread feel free i will rip that apart as well)

If you want anyone to believe in your fantasy world you need to try harder. Try researching your topic before you post.

[Link]

Every university is unique and all have something different to offer their PhD students, but they all have one thing in common, if you want to continue in the world of academia they all believe that it's important to publish. However, institutions do also appreciate that every student is different and they will always do their utmost to get the best out of their students and support each individual with their work throughout their PhD.

PhD students usually begin their course intoxicated by the idea of becoming a ‘Dr’, but they soon realise that getting the title is not actually the big deal. In reality, it’s all about publishing

I did not publish my thesis as it was funded by a private business in Switzerland.

I gained my PhD for nutrition over 30 years ago I am retired what are you going on about.

Did you not pay attention I gave a fair bit of my background.

I understand you now you are one of those people who sits at the computer read bits on the internet and believes they know what they are talking about.

In the modern day yes you need to keep publishing useless research or research which focuses on a positive for whoever funded it.

I see you changed the subject again another pattern for people who have no real way to prove someone is not correct.

In one of your posts you stated you was a student never mentioning the subject or for what qualification.

Oh la de da.

My thesis was funded by a large Mexican burrito and spicy cheese dip.

The feedback saw me lose all sense of smell for two weeks.
