If this is the kind of deal we're looking at we maybe need to manage our expectations! I really don't see that Maitland-Niles is an upgrade for our midfield. Lots of energy but lacking in quality.

I've been told to still expect late signings but I don't like it when we do that. People could just be trying to wind me up but it would hardly be a surprise. Obviously, if we do get players late it's better than none.

Certainly not any of the supposed 'Plan A's', as current sides aren't in a position to sell and wouldn't have time to sign replacements. Perhaps there's some random Ligue 1 or Bundesliga marquee we've not seen coming.

On a side note, apparently a mystery team has bid £19m for Tielemans (who Leicester quoted £50m for recently). Maybe it's Chelsea.... although it would be a very Palace thing to do to offer less than 40% of the asking price!

I have good faith that the club will finalise a couple of deals tomorrow night. The purpose of this to me is that you isolate players and agents so that you are effectively their final chance to move on and actually sign. It's probably quite tense and can go either way in terms of wages (see Sakho's inflated salary), but it's also actually a decent way of ensuring we have our numbers with players the boss wants.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |
