I know all that; so what?

I think that it was a not unreasonable response to your comments with respect to the Amex being:

"...pretty much a soulless place...a lot of 'wavy' style but no substance...even inside its a hotchpotch of differing types of stands with odd levels. Nice enough but not the architectural mecca some seem to think it to be....in short it looks like it only cost £95m"

Won't we be getting something similar, architecturally speaking?

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

How do you know a price hasn't been agreed?

They (Sainsburys) said this week they were unaware of the plans and a cpfc spokesperson has said Parish is throwing it out there to see if the council and Sainsburys are going to cooperate. That doesn't hint that any deal on land or anything has happened with Sainsburys. If a price was agreed, don't you think Parish would announce it, seeing as he's ready and willing to announce things that haven't been agreed?

Thank You.

I was just countering criticism of the AMEX with comments that the same people who designed it have designed ours and that our new Main Stand looks remarkably like a stand at their ground viewed from pitch level.

There is no way a CPO will be passed for a football stadium now in a built up area.
The solution to the Sainsburys issue with their land required for the main stand is simple..Just call it the Sainsburys Stadium or the Sainsburys stand. They will endless PR and Palace get the stand they want.

I cannot see us trying for CPO's on Par Road any time in the near future unless we're taken over by an oligarch and become a top 4 club.

The houses are valued at £280k each, or more if split into 2 flats. I can't see how many there are but I think it's over 30 houses, plus there's the end houses on the side roads. Probably 2 a time.

It ain't happening. It'll eventually be a smaller capacity stand with bigger facilities and either the same size or the same structure with a new roof and added seating joining the corners in.

This is way off in the future anyway and I predict the main stand won't be finished for 5 years at the earliest. considering the main obstacles were yet to overcome, even with what's sounding like council backing in principle.

Yes I agree.

I suspect that any further rejuvenation of SP is not under any serious consideration at all and in any event it will be several years before any further developments (A Phase 2) will take place if at all.

The current plans are a significant upgrade on what we have at present and for that I am very grateful.

Why announce the stadium plan if it hasn't been approved? Sorry to say but very Palace and amateurish. Silly to get people's hopes up before anything has been made official.

Very exciting set of proposals, which will proceed, subject to planning, regardless of any possible relegation, according to SP.

To be honest this is why there has been so much discussion on this thread about it. The hope is that SP has got everything lined up to make this happen. The reality may be something different. Most are with you that it would be stupid to announce before being able to deliver, but lets just wait and see.

I don't know the precise details of any complex negotiations that have taken place but I suspect the club have been in considerable discussion with the Council planning department regarding the proposed plans that will be submitted.Possibly the plans have been amended here and there depending on the talks.Just speculation of course.

Regards Sainsburys, perhaps the club by revealing the plans and it's application to the Council hopes to 'Bounce' Sainsburys into an agreement regarding the land they own as the supermarket giant won't wish to be seen as overly obstructive and prove a real stumbling block to the development that has been presented to the Council and to the excited supporters.Could prove a PR disaster for them.Just more speculation !

This is highly likely and answers those questioning why the plans have been released without planning consent or an agreement with Sainsburys and possibly make some realise this may not 'start' as early as end of 2018 in 12 months time. Sainsburys are likely to want to have some say in what's going ahead than just 'okay then, rice agreed for our land' you use, will continue to use to park on, and will need to build on.'

A bit of a road ahead on this.

It looks as though Parish can deliver financially, architecturally and structurally. The council sound like they're edging that way. Its the big matter of needing Sainsburys land and any objections from locals that Parish is taking the tactic of putting it out there rather than not getting anywhere. Now the council are look positively at it I think Parish is probably pushing it along quicker than trying to get Sainsburys to agree first. Whether it costs more or less the way he's gone, who knows? It's their investment that's being saved or used rather than transfer funds so their risk.

Thank you for adding context to Willo's normally stale wiki'esque brevity....KSS also did Liverpools ground as well as working on Wimbledon and Twickenham...all of which a far far removed from what Brighton have...so if that indeed was his inference then you can clearly see why it wasn't exactly the first thought that sprang to mind as it was a mute point at best.

My initial thought when looking at the stand from the pitch elevation is that it looks a relatively bland stand, but the make of of the interior and the rear of it look far better than anything at the AMEX.

The one area that Brighton certainly exceeds anything we have is their training facility...ironically KSS again...now that is beautiful...
