Big fines here mate, and no excuses. Having any device with a picture is enough. We have to pay Ryan Tubridy's wages. As I say, don't particularly care, as I won't pay anyway.

Ah, it was backdated AS? Careful you don"t end up in Mountjoy mate, it"s full of Liverpool fans.

They bring you there, process you, give you a MacDonalds, then give you money for a train ticket and on your way. The inn is full.

I think you could not get Monty Python Blackadder The Young ones etc. past the lawyers.

But there really don't seem to be any comics anyway - Morecambe and Wise Tommy Cooper Mike Yarwood Benny Hill I could go on and on - but I really can't see anybody at all at present remotely funny.

It must be due to brexit.

Yep Brexit is to blame. We all know the Germans are known for their sense of humour I agree that present day comedy does not seem to be funny.
As an aside about Benny Hill, many years ago my grandmother was a high quality wig maker. She worked for many celebs including Liberace and Benny Hill. Mr Hill was known as Benny the pig. She also worked on the prototype for Chewbacca’s head (why did she not smuggle it out for her favourite grandson?

The BBC simply needs to get back to its public information remit.

Yes, one wonders exactly how there is so much anti-Semitism in Europe these days? Nothing to do with the increase in Islam whatsoever. Far right no doubt. Far right to blame for everything now, from Trump to Brexit to anti Vax. We must be close to voting in a fascist dictator as the far right are so pervasive.

More like the Daily Mail yet again.

I haven't seen the BBC report, but just reading the story is enough. The reporter was clearly speculating on suggestions they had heard. Nothing wrong with asking questions about what sparks incidents. There was no sense of that being an excuse for anyone else behaving badly.

Any kind of prejudice is unacceptable. Not just anti-Semitism, but I think this "protest" was ill-conceived and Lord Grade and Maureen Lipman, both of whom I admire, ill-advised to support it.

This wasn't the least anti-Semantic, and the BBC ought not be intimidated from reporting what they see and hear, and then asking questions.

Its the primary dilemma for the Progressive Left. They want all racist attacks to be carried out by stereotypical white racists, ideally all shaven heads, 'Oi' t-shirts and boots & braces. Whereas the reality is far, far more nuanced. You see it when it comes the huge increase in anti-Semitism in Europe and in the US the attacks on people of East Asian origins with the majority of the perpetrators in both cases not really conforming to what the Progressives want.

I thought one of the most interesting parts of the recent Dave Chappelle comedy special was that just before he did the part on Trans people, which drew all the ire from the usual subjects, he made what could be construed as a pretty poor joke based on the attacks against Asian people in the US by African-Americans which went almost completely uncommented upon. Suspect it was deliberately done, knowing how the contrast would be with what followed, especially given that his own wife is Asian.

“ reporter was clearly SPECULATING on suggestions they had heard! Heard from who? So wasn’t accurate reporting it was speculation

If the reporter had eye witness's who heard this it is reasonable to report. However as you said yourself he speculated that is not journalism. Since the incident the BBC has failed to produce any evidence to back this up which is why the Jewish community is upset.

Shoddy reporting.
