Sure thing Vindaloo, if you're interested....

Main bets

I also did some forecasts for the groups: Fra/Uru; Spa/Par; Bra/Tur; Por/Kor; Cam/Ger; Arg/Swe; Ita/Mex; Rus/Jap. Odds vary on these from 7/4 out to 9/1.

are these straight or reverse forecasts?

Straight forecasts mate. Although in a few cases I did small savers on alternative results, eg Tur/Bra; Fra/Sen; Arg/Eng.

At least four odds-on favourites got beaten yesterday, which shows not just how hard this is, but also the shocking prices offered by some bookies.

Another difficult day, I'm going to go for Silver Seeker again in the hope that it will run this time, at 2.30 at Yarmouth.

Others looking likely include Cryfield (Yarmouth 5.00) and Divet Hill (Kelso 4.10).

i dont know or not whether you guys have used the site oddschecker.co.uk , if not i'll explain that they give all the different bookies odds on various events to compare.
If you go to the Eng v Sri Lanka test series odds you find this
Sportingbet : England to win 5-4
Bet365 : Drawn series 9-4
Paddypower : Sri Lanka 4-1
(These firms offering the best odds on each result respectively).
Now £44 on England to win at 5-4 = £99 return
£31 on a drawn series at 9-4 = £100.75
£20 on Sri Lanka at 4-1 = £100

Total outlay = £95
Guaranteed to win at least £99 as the only 3 possible outcomes covered. I know it's not a lot of profit but you can put as much money on as you can get your hands on and you cant lose.

Cheers Vindaloo, it is possible to engineer the odds if you have enough time, I admit. Do you reckon you can do the same for the World Cup? Only 64 teams to work out...

Not much to look at again today as regards horses, just lots of odds-on favourites looking to get beaten again, like Sir Albert, Pentecost and Two Marks at Ayr, and Queen's Gift and Mount Joy at Goodwood. So I'm going for True Night (Ayr 3.55), each-way if the odds are 4/1 or longer.

Vindaloo - check the odds are still available before you draw out your life-savings. I spotted one of these no-lose situations once (and this was in the days when you had to win enough to cover the tax), but when I got to the third bookies (pre-internet) the odds had been changed, so I was knackered. I managed to hedge them so that I was only a few quid down, but I was gutted as I thought I was on a certain winner.

Good point GAO. Personally I'd just lump it all on the draw if I were you, especially when you see how hard it's raining in Birmingham this morning.

On second thoughts maybe not... the draw is now odds-on. Shame.

Thanks for the advice GAO, the odds have changed dramatically .As for the world cup Slug my brain has melted trying to work out the percentages . Realistically though its not worth it , i can't see further than Italy, Argentina and France winning it . If England did win i'd be more than happy to lose my money anyway.
Anyway you are showing a healthy profit on your horses, much better than many newspaper tipsters. Fancy getting payed to do a job badly.Oh hang on , Politicians ,Railtrack, myself,....

Profit on even £1 stakes now down to £12.03. I gotta hang on to that 3p, it might be all I have after twelve more tips!

Last tip of the week, and again I'm not wholly confident... but I'm going for Thaqib (Nottingham 4.30) with Kalambari (Catterick 3.10) and Monksford (Ayr 3.20).

A side bet on France to win 2-0 (currently 7/1) is also recommended.

Thaqib won at 6/4! Profits now up to £14.53.

The less said about the France bet the better...
