Thanks for confirming that, like all the Leftie politicians and useful idiots on TV right now, you splurge out nonsense about fascists, Nazis and racists when discussing Nigel Farage and Reform.

It is moronic gutter politics used by people who are afraid that someone might just do something about mass migration and globalist greed.

The reasons these things are brought to the fore can be expressed in three words.

Lest we forget.

Indeed. It’s about living the values and living the place you’re making home. If you want to bring your Gods, attitudes and culture and try to reverse them into the English one, established over many centuries, then stay where you are as you can do it there.

I’d love to move to Greece, I would not move there and insist they change their culture to suit me nor would I expect them to be happy if I tried - because if I wanted that I’d probably stay here.

Being English is very much love of the country, its values, its attitudes and being prepared to fight for that. People with heritage generally do that but increasingly we have many weak ‘heritage’ English people who would rather virtue signal and stand up for people that don’t share our values and who wouldnt stand shoulder to shoulder with them in battle than support our culture and way of life. Sadly this only has a bad ending for me.

I agree with all of that. Except the first word, because you aren’t describing Hrofl’s approach. You are describing mine.

It isn't too hard to understand really, unless your name is Monsieur Wisbech.

As an Englishman by both birth and culture there is nothing to understand.

We are all legally British and emotionally English. Those trying to impose their own conditions on the latter have no justification for doing so and even less right.

They can all sit in a huddle and have a moanfest to their heart’s content but it’s not going to change anything.

Same decadence, different Empire.

The OP asks What is Englishness. I reply, what years are you mindful of ? The Battle of Britain or the Loss of Luton ?

With due respect, because you write about this with a lot more sense than some, what I asked was “who is English”. Which is subtly different to a definition of Englishness.

I would rather not have to align myself to some geo-political country. For Bureaucratic reasons, I have to. Driving Licence, passport, etc.
Fortunately, the behaviour of England players and fans over the past 2 decades has enabled me to break any lingering allegiance I might have with considering myself English.

Until maybe 30 years ago I would not have given this issue any thought at all. I was English, always had been, always would be. Then I started to travel much more widely and began to value being British, and then European, much more. People in distant countries saw me as European first and British next. English was how we communicated. These days my mind is even broader. I see nationalism as a potential danger and not a force for good. Pride in country, history, culture and heritage being different.

We have already determined that it cannot be, or the King isn’t English and neither are either you or me.

According to your reasoning the perfect Englishman who is described cannot be English because his background is in one of the 371 ethnicities in Nigeria which another declares couldn’t possibly have any English connections. Even though the English made rather a lot of connections in Nigeria!

Judging anybody solely on their genetic composition is as inaccurate as it is foolish. Only behaviour matters.

There are many groups in the UK whose behaviour I regard as thoroughly anti-British. Most of them not being recent immigrants.

Judging?

It is a question of science.

The English are a distinct genetic group. They have absorbed genes from various migrations but have not changed significantly.

Accept this and move on. You are boring us all to tears.

Bonne apres midi.

Of course, foreign culture is not always unwelcome, but there are clearly groups in this country whose 'culture' is antisocial, anti British, anti gay, anti women, anti White, anti law, to name a few, and should not be here in the first place.

you forgot to mention 'anti working in a real job and paying taxes'. I would agree that such people are not really welcome. Deport them.

However, when an English Nigel or Sharon replicates these behaviours, can we deport them too ?

can the Scots, Welsh & Irish rally together and expel the English from the British Isles ? yis are only really a bunch of blonde blow-ins from Northern Germany. Unlike us brunette, blue-eyed Celtic types.

Only been here for 1,700 years. Which is no time at all compared to the rest of us. From the river Avon, to Penge and Anerley.....yis haven't even finished supplanting all the Celtic place names with your alien invader language. Even the Sel in Selhurst is a Celtic root. Do i need to beat you with a stick to get you to see it ?

When someone states that there are 371 ethnicities in Nigeria they are being ridiculous. These are mostly tribes and they are all ethnically Nigerian and wouldn't claim otherwise.

We don't really do 'tribes' in England since Roman times but It's a bit like claiming that if you're born in Manchester you are a different ethnicity from English.

Just more obfuscation and nonsense.

As for the King not being English.....More nonsense.

As stated the English are a northern European admixure that can claim a history through these islands.

Claims that there is no English lineage is false as Queen Victoria had English blood over a century ago and before her British lineage is also mixed in with James V1. Descendants have been living and breeding with English birds before and since.

The King's children have an English mother.....it's all a bit of nonsense claimed by those who want to deconstruct the role of genes in nationality......As stated, genes aren't everything by all means but they are also an intrinsic part of being a native to a land.

For me, I was born in England of irish parents, and I was brought up very irish, spent my summer in ireland with my grandparents, and have never felt English. I have lived in ireland for the last 50 years and to the irish I'm English and to the English I'm irish. So it boils down to one thing if Ireland we're playing England in a soccer match, I would be shouting for Ireland 🇮🇪 so that answers a lot of questions

I'd happily lose a good chunk of the English population.

It might make owning a sports car worth it again.
