We are missing 5 of our best players and Sam Johnstone is one of those. Bring him back immediately! Distribution, shot stopping and communication with the back 4 seems obvious to me and has been missing each game he missed.

Positives: Even when everyone are match fit Munoz and Wharton are first 11. Very impressed with both for different reasons, the club spent money very well on those 2.

Franca offers a lot going forward but still adjusting, actually won the ball back many times but still needs to play it safe in our half which is where he caused us issues. Needs games to get match sharpness.

I might be a minority but I can see a team capable of staying up even without Olise and Dacoure. Bring back Johnston, Guehi and eze when they are both fit and we have a good enough team to stay up. Thats my belief. Point v Everton, beat Burnley and we will all feel a huge relief.

It’s a lost season now and all hands on deck for survival.
Credit to the fans there today, it sounded so much better and no doubt helped by the effort from the players.

Roy for me minus Henderson picked the same team I would have, He will be gone in the summer thankfully and hopefully having managed not to take us down

Yep.

With a fully fit first XI we are a top 10 team. Difference is you need a deeper squad than we have to stay at that level. Something we don’t have. Take a look at our bench today vs Chelsea’s.

They might be inconsistent and incoherent but they have several hundred million pounds worth of talent that can go up a gear - we had nothing higher than our first half, and they did in the second.

I heard ‘they’re there for the taking’ last week and again before the match this week. Delusional

Just back from the game. That’s a far better performance from the boys. Thought we could have got a point but at least we didn’t roll over. A fair few positives. In order:

1 Munoz
2 Wharton.
3 Franca
4 Hughes
5 Mateta
6 Lerma

The rest of them played ok in parts too.

Still can’t understand what’s going on with Henderson over Johnstone

Agree with you although I thought Ayew had an off game. Missed part of the opening half but what I did see he did not contribute much at all. Otherwise, you can't fault the effort.

Thought one of the highlights tonight had to be the song
When we was waiting for ref.
Still singing it now

A b annoying last minute defeat - BUT feels more positive than the absolute rock-bottom after Arsenal & the weed.

Much more solid performance, the team look like they give a sh*t, the crowd has come back to life, we have a proper keeper waiting to come back in, we have on paper two games coming up which gives us a chance of some points.

Disappointed to lose again for a top tier record 13 consecutive time to a bang average Chelsea team but there were several reasons to be cheerful! Attacking balance was there with Franca and defensive stability was there with Wharton.

Until the stars return from injury the only change I would make is the keeper and Ozoh instead of Ahmada as the midfield change!

Thought a draw would have been a fairer result. First half we created nearly all the chances despite having very little possession and the game plan looked good. Second half Mitchell switched off for a second which allowed Gusto to get into a crossing position. We looked a bit shaky after conceding but i thought we looked the team most likely to score towards the end.
Henderson did not really have much to do and can't see why he is getting so much stick as he had no chance with any of the goal's. Thought Richards had a good game as did most of our players. I know Franca has got some love but he was struggling a bit to get back at times and aside from one great pass he did not make the most of some threatening situations.
Think if you put Eze in behind Mateta we will be competitive in most games with this team.

Nice to see a set of different faces in the line up.. I feel we may just have enough in the tank to get over the line but this summer is all about rebuilding for a long term future - whilst also prepared for plan b (worse case scenario).

I'd like a couple of experienced heads bought in too, for the final third to make sure we don't switch off and give goals away...

The usual litany of if "onlys" and "what might have beens". The cold fact is we lost for the same reasons we always lose - very little possession / early opposition goal whatever half / late opposition goals. All these are attributable to Hodgson, his tactics, and the mindset the players are sent out onto the pitch. there's nothing new here and the result is the same, despite the improved performances from some players.
This approach won't win many games.

It should be noted, in addition to Henderson's woes, that Mitchell's side was targeted and resulted in two of their goals. The club has done well to have only one certified left back with no competition for places.

I think everything has been said. Don’t agree with the Henderson haters - thought he did okay - but hey, we are all entitled to our own opinion.

Gutted we lost that - I actually thought the opposite and we were going to snatch a wonderful victory. Football can be a cruel game. Felt the team played with more heart today. Some season defining fixtures coming up - got to stay positive, support the team and you never know….

I don't think anyone hates our goalkeeper its just that we have a better one that most think would keep the goal difference down a bit and actually make a couple of saves now and again .

But yes much better performance which is hard to take when you have just lost 3-1

The fact that Mitchell had no support from Franca in front of him didnt help, he was left often defending against 2 players. Frfanca will learn, but thats what you get with youngsters, preferable than having Schlupp there.

Wharton is amazing. We have a right back at last. França needed that experience and hopefully learns what he needs to achieve as an athlete. He was absolutely shot after that run in the first half. Richards good.

Roy must bite the bullet and play Johnstone. But I guess that's £20m wasted if he doesn't stick with Henderson.

Roy tried to be positive with his subs. Turned out he should have been true to type.
