We are bereft of foresight, planning in the modern game , and managing our squad through injuries. We seem to be in a crisis the whole time. I just hope our latest casualty is back soon. But as Lanzo says it’s probably 50/50. eg we haven’t got a clue or even if we have it is not being shared with the fans. But aren't all teams struggling with injuries ? I think the standing around during VAR, elongating of games with all this stupid extra time and most of all the intensity and speed are the root cause. Five subs gives the rich boys the opportunity to abuse it further. Unfortunately we're overly reliant on two players in our starting eleven before even thinking about the bench.

And with respect, unless you are a sports injury expert and therefore have a qualified opinion, it’s pure guesswork on your part. If he does have an injury that will rule him out until next season then a shrewd businessman wouldn’t part with any cash this month.

A number of clubs have had numerous injuries to key players. Where they differ from us is that they had better squads in terms of both quality and quantity. While I think the club could have done better in preparing for this season, we aren’t in a position to spend a small fortune on squad players. Why is it “ 50/50 “ re Olise ? Just because of one persons speculation ? - good grief. I’ve read that the injury is likely to keep him out until February .

Hearing that there is a 60 million release clause and that Manure are interested with AWB coming to us as part of the deal?

Seeing as how this article is headed 'We need to talk about Michael", I see now he is being linked with both Man U and Liverpool for a move in the summer. Edited by dreamwaverider (07 Jan 2024 6.02am)

If we were to sell Olise and possibly lose Ayew ( there are always some players who get injured while on AFCON duty ) then we don't really have any wide players of any quality. Edited by viveasheagle (07 Jan 2024 7.12am)

Edited by dreamwaverider (07 Jan 2024 6.02am) Your comparison between Harvey Elliott and Olise is ridiculous. Elliott has never been and probably never will be as key a player for Liverpool as Olise currently is for Palace. Liverpool have the luxury of being able to afford him time as he’s not a nailed on starter for them anyway. The pressure on Palace to get Olise back on the playing field as soon as possible exists of course it does. But we have already seen that the medical team at Palace exercise caution when appropriate. I think it suits you to have another dig at the club, of which I detect an undercurrent in you post. In terms of his career, he is responsible for that, not Palace. He’s being very handsomely paid to play now for the club not wrapped in cotton wool for the benefit of his future employers.

I would take the deal. So long as the money is reinvested in the squad ( which i have my doubts it would be )

I don’t see the point in that speculation. In any case, clubs don’t spend £60m or whatever the fee without doing their due diligence from a medical perspective. If Olise is susceptible to hamstring injuries I would expect that to be identified. I also don’t think that a release clause is time driven. If at any time in a transfer window that clause is activated then a transfer is possible. The problem with the media driven world in which we live is that there has to be content. And much of that content is space filling rubbish which can lead to groundless rumour and speculation. Here’s an example - the ‘ We Are Palace ‘ site linked Palace with a move for Jayden Sancho should Steve Cooper get the job. All because they had worked together when Cooper worked for the England set up. Back to Olise. If we had 30 points and were comfortably looking at a top ten finish, then it would make sense to at least consider selling him. But we look set for a bumpy ride towards ( hopefully ) safety. So I would keep him.

Of course we are all entitled to our opinions and this board is a place to share and discuss. What I find frustrating is that currently the club can’t be seen to be doing right for doing wrong. So your comment about Olise appearing to be pushed back into action prematurely suggests you are more willing to accept that the club is in the wrong than give the benefit of the doubt that, well, s*** happens. I’ve supported Palace for over 50 years, and comparatively, this is as good as it gets ! I have also been highly critical of the club and the current situation. I realise that whether our level of frustration is justified or not, it is real and can’t be ignored. And I’m as guilty as anyone else, maybe even more so, when expressing my frustrations. I apologise if I have offended you and I hope that you continue to add your contributions to the issues that mean so much to us all.
