The board know Roy, if they give him money to spend in January the likelihood is he won’t play them any way! Whats the point, they’ll wait until the new manager comes in. Roy’s so odd with new players

The board don't give Roy money to spend at all. The board buy players for him and it seems like if he doesn't like the players that have been forced on him he just doesn't play them

Roy only has one mission, and that is to keep the team up. He sees the season as a whole rather than game by game.

All we have to do is finish above three teams. He will be looking to get 38 points, and we are almost half way there.
The only really poor result we have had, given the form and quality of other teams is Luton. We have had a great draw at city and a win at United.

The bottom line is that we have had a lot of injuries to key players and are still on target to stay up. Critics of Roy should ask themselves who else we could attract to the club with anything like his quality and experience.

If he didnt bring Eze on, people would complain. You cant win as a manager everyone thinks they could do a better job than you, especially with hindsight.

My thoughts exactly, before the game everyone was complaining that Roy hadn't started the youngsters and put Hughes in - after the games its - 'why did you bring them on?'.

Hughes came off for Ozoh to give more legs to the midfield as Brighton were swarming us. As for Eze, he decided the game really.. He scores the easiest of tap ins and we win, instead he gives the ball away needlessly and we draw. As always in this league, its fine margins..

Brighton didn't have a fit full back, were without their top goalscorer from last season, the forward from Barcelona and one of their centre halves.
They still managed to play football at a different level to us. a They started with two 19 year olds and brought on an 18 year old in the second half who changed the game.
They played on the front foot with incisive forward passes and made a number of tactical tweaks during the game which had a positive impact on their game.
In contrast we constantly played the ball sideways and backwards, kept players behind the ball and were utterly predictable.
The difference in coaching, approach to the game and use of young players was marked.

When Roy left last time he said it was the right time to go as the club had new young players who needed a fresh face to take the club forward.
In my view I think we are at that stage again.

Zerbi said what I was saying earlier in the season, you play young players and you accept they will make mistakes and learn. I thought Ozoh was fine when he came on. Got a toe in on one occasion in the 18-yeard box to prevent them getting a shot away. Hughes was really struggling to keep up with the pace of the game in the second half so he had to come off. The issue was the whole midfield was chasing shadows. I was fine with Eze coming on, I just don't understand why he came on on the left. He has been brilliant since he moved to the middle. If you want to defend bring on Schlupp. I really hope Franca gets some minutes against Chelsea as after a great cameo it'd be a shame if Roy puts him back in his box of unused tools. To finish on a positive it's great to see an understanding developing between Olise and JPM.

Sensible post but it didn't reply to Midlands post.

Perhaps the Board doesn't mind Roy not playing those who don't fit within his scheme. Roy is only holding us in place till the new management arrive. They will have the option to field the newbies.

Just got home and I know someone must have asked but I'm gonna ask anyway. Can anyone explain the reason for taking off Ayew and playing a half fit Eze out of position? This is nothing to do with Eze missing an open goal of gifting then an equaliser, it's about giving up the ball for the last half hour and hoping to hang on. It never works. If Ayew had to go off and we all know he didn't, then Schlupp or Ahamada would have made some sense, but not Eze. For once I would have been happy for Roy to make no subs in all honesty. Ozoh is gonna be great for us, but bringing on a holding midfielder for the more advanced playing Hughes was a clear signal of, we hold what we have. One of the worst halves of Football I've ever seen. Two points thrown away.

Hughes had been booked and Brighton were starting to cut through our midfield. So to me that one made sense. It may also have brought some people down to earth re Ozoh as I thought he struggled last night in comparison to Saturday - still work in progress.

I agree re Ayew - I think there was an expectation from Roy that Eze would get us more possession and offer a different kind of threat. Ebs looked well off the pace. If Schlupp had been introduced, I can imagine the amount of moaning that would have generated on here.

I think it was the classic game of two halves. We deserved to have our noses in front at half time and tactically were sound. Brighton moved the ball quicker in the second half and we struggled to stay with them.

Contrary to what a few were saying Clyne kept Mitoma relatively quiet...I like Ozoh think he’ll develope into a top player.. pity Franca didn’t come on in place of Eze... Mateta had another good match and provided Eze with a golden opportunity which he surprisingly fluffed....

This is true of course, however that’s the model of the modern game. His approach to talent is outdated just like his playing style and management imo.

Agreed. Judging by a number of comments on this site, some think that there are 3 worse clubs than us, and Hodgson is a safe pair of hands until the end of the season as we won't be going down in any case. If this is so why wait that long? Replace him now and let's get on with it, give the new manager the remainder of the season to settle his outlook and the close season to fully prepare.
I think of PV and his dismissal when the club were 12th, and compare it to Hodgson's record thus far this season, and have to conclude that Parish is not as straight up as he wishes us to believe.

1 home win so far this season.

Next 5 home PL games:

Brentford (No Toney, Mbuemo, Mee)
Sheffield United
Chelsea
Burnley
Luton

There has to be 10 points minimum from that. If there isn't then we are going to be right in it.
