Every season since we’ve been promoted we have a bad spell and I always come out with the line ‘“I can’t see where the next win is coming from”. We then go on to win two, three, even five on the trot one season, without fail this happens to me, so here goes…….I CAN’T SEE WHERE THE NEXT WIN IS COMING FROM

Looking at the current state of play I would say 32 points will be the probable safety target.

i.e 15 out of 21 games.

So close. In a different game this magic might well have been even more successful. Still, the process has been started.

Tend to agree.
To our advantage, the three promoted sides are looking to go straight back down to the Championship ( where they belong!!) and we are probably safe for yet another record season in the top flight.

It's next season I worry. With the likes of Leicester, Leeds and Southampton look to return at the first asking. Unless Ipswich keep going.

I was posting about this previously. We've got loads of contracts expiring - with several not good enough to be renewed. Even if some of our youngsters are good enough, and we don't sell anyone, we'll need four or five decent players in the transfer window - or we'll be worse than this season. Any worse than we are currently has relegation written all over it. Can we seriously sign four or five decent players? It seems unlikely. Frankly, we could do with more. The squad has reached its limit this season. We need a rebuild. It's not a wish for a rebuild - we have to do it, or else.

As a glass half full merchant, I would say that most clubs are constantly in the same rebuilding space. After the Man City game, I see loads of things to be optimistic about.
If we can just get two wide full backs and another striker in either on loan or bought, we should have enough to soldier on mid table which with our current ownership structure is about as good as we can hope for.
I am also hoping for someone like Eddie Howe to replace Roy end of season. Please not Steve Cooper.

We could also do with fewer injuries. Are all these hamstring pulls a coincidence? Seems odd I can’t remember any other team having so many at once. Presumably SP is all over that with the medical and training staff. Anyway given injuries and players leaving I agree we need several decent signings. Presumably depends on where we are in the FFP cycle of spending and on cash needed elsewhere if the stadium build goes ahead. If it does that will put added pressure on next season. On the plus side some of the new players looked good on Saturday.

I saw a recent article that the Palace medical staff were at odds with Roy over pushing players too hard, especially those returning from injury (ie. Olise).

All these injuries, how much is it too with pushing the players too hard in training ?

I thought Sheffield Utd were excellent tonight. They certainly didn’t look like a team nailed on for relegation to me.

Our three biggest home games to come are v Sheff Utd, Burnley and Luton. We need 9 points from those. Problem is, now is around the time when the relegation candidates start to play better and pick up points. Sheff Utd proved that last night, and Luton are improving too. Our 2-1 loss to them, thanks to an Andersen error, could be very costly.

I know there’s no guarantees, but Leicester and Leeds are enjoying themselves this season and we’ve got a chairman that will have us financially sound if we did slip through the trap door, so no biggy for me if we did go down. Apart from not enjoying the rest of the season of course as it all goes Pete Tong
