What a load of moaning whingers we have as so called fans, it was an excellent performance, defence solid as a rock, great battling performance, two great goals, Andersen and Ayew fantastic, Ayew was brilliant for the first goal, yes, we need a RB and a CF, but with Ayew, Eze and Olise back fully fit soon, i think the 10th place we are in will improve dramaticly, yes,10th, FFS you would think we were bottom three by some of the comments.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

What I liked about both goals was the speed of play and finish. Both assists were top drawer.
Ayew. If he could only dummy and turn like that more often and cross with such high speed accuracy he would be our best player. He gets better every game.
Eze. Only he can do what he did. In one so simple piece of magic set young Mitchell up for a cracking finish.

We aren't comparing ourselves to Sheffield Utd, Luton and Burnley. I want to look up the table and be a top 10 team.
I just simply don't believe any fan on here could enjoy today. FYI I was at the game, and we only didn't concede because Burnley aren't good enough. When we play the top teams, we get found out. Today they dominated us, Roy said so himself. He knows we have a limited squad and has to play limited football.
Today Burnley basically had all the ball and we say back and said go on then. That's not how we should be playing against a bottom 3 side.
Talk of Vieira (and De Boer) shows we've had our hands burnt previously with the 'progressive young manager' I mentioned earlier. Well how come Brighton found one no one even knew of?
Comes down to poor scouting, and a chairman who loves us but doesn't have the money to take us to the next level. Worse is, we have two other investors who are minted but aren't interested.
Despite all this, for now we are top 10. We are doing fine and wont get relegated this season. So i feel we need to take this opportunity to look ahead and plan for next season. Roy won't be here, so we need to change tack. Let's go for that attack minded manager, select the right person, and crucially, back him.
Nome of this is against Roy who has done fantastically since rejoining. I just don't feel like we can continue like this after this season.

Is this the same scouting that acquired Eze, Olise, Guehi, Andersen, Doucoure and Johnstone at low values compared to value now?

I'm wondering if you and Lanzo go to the matches or just watch the 3 minute highlights on YouTube? Those highlights made us look decent, restricting them to a few half chances and we were clinical on the break.
What that doesn't show is how us fans endured us camped in our box for around 70 minutes, hardly got into the their half and when we did we couldn't get three passes together.
Talk of league position also not relevant. We might flit between 8th and 14th, breaking top 7 for Europe is just too tall an order (would love to br proved wrong on that).
No one is moaning, more a comment on how given we've been 10 seasons in the prem it would be nice not let us see promoted teams dominate us all game. Before any starts going on about Charlton, Curbishley and Europe etc I'm not asking for that, just to play more in their half and have some attacking impetus.
Surely now that's also got to be the end for Ward. They got down his side every time. Wondering if he was only made captain because we were guaranteed that Guehi and Andersen were going to stay in the summer. Problem is now Roy feels compelled to play him. How can he after yesterday's performance? Wingers just have him on toast now.

Many comments mirroring those made during Roy's abysmal final two seasons first time round - can't pass / no pace / no movement etc / relying on one (in this case two) players to supply a bit of quality. Sounds familiar?
I'm thinking of the constants; Roy obviously first up, he manages to make a game look like the players are wandering through sludge with wellies on, it's particular ability he has, to make the game totally unentertaining, and then there's the players who look like they've been pulled off of an amateur game on Wormword Scrubs.
If history is repeating itself then it's going to get even more dire, and who knows, when Parish fails to attract any half decent manager for next season, Roy will have his contract extended, good lord.
"Ah, but it's still three points!", I hear you cry in unison, and yes it is, you're right, just enough to keep the bandwagon rolling until next week.

15 points from 11 games with the attacking tools at our disposal is mind blowing, just mind blowing.

But it's not beautiful enough.

We really are peak Charlton.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

It does irk me Teddy but sometimes I prefer it that way, keeps us out of any media spotlight and the possible troubles that may bring but also represents us, at the very least, not being seen in any 'exciting' context... like a relegation battle.

Until there is some further, sincere investment in the first XI and a manager with a workable plan to take us forward, it sits OK with me.

A very much needed 3 points today, thrilled, plus I got to watch MoTD for the first time in a while! COYP

Burnley are newly promoted in the relegation zone who played the better football and were unlucky.

We were uninspiring and the win took us from dreary mid table to dreary mid table.

They focused on where the drama was. I have no issue.

That said had we been spurs the focus would have been how ruthless they are and still win even when "ugly " etc.

Credit due there on those ones. However they also bought Riedewald, Marange, Sorloth, Mutch, Mandanda and many other deadwood players. We also paid significantly for those, except Johnstone as he was initially just back up for Guaita.
They're supposed to be finding the gems like Koloeosho (2.6m) plus any Brighton player you want to pick under 6m.
Also the same scouting department that thought we should spend 20m on a goalkeeper when a decent right back like Timothy Castagne was available for 17m.

A match fit Olise Eze and Franca as well as JRS will see a more entertaining and successful Palace. Roll on 2024...

Sorry old chap, but I have to disagree with you. Ward has been very strong for us this season so far. OK, he's a tad off the pace now and he scored an unfortunate OG last week, but he's saved far more with decent positioning and tackles. A stalwart for the club.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

For all those on here whinging at the style of play, Hodgson is almost certain to finish this season.
But who ever comes in if the club do not refresh this squad in the same way they did for Viera,s first season we will soon be looking for another Roy, and they don’t come along to often nowadays. Viera did OK mid table first season, was really struggling second with a squad stronger than what Hodgson has been using so far, and quite honestly the quality entertainment element was low. I suspect because the club didn’t continue to expand the squad .
To play this progressive entertaining football people seem to want come what may only a fuller quality squad is needed, and then it’s no good playing a style only to find you are not good enough to be effective, ie Burnley ,and a raft of want to be,s now in the Championship.
For every one or two that have succeeded in getting success playing in the style of the best there are ten that gave up their Premier rating trying. And it invariably is achieved with much better access to funding the squads involved. If you are not happy keep it in mind.
