In most respects that is what I have said. It’s not a tear jerker, but an appreciation of what’s actually happening . You don’t have to like it, or respond to it.
We know what you would say to Roy, you publicise your attitude to him constantly..
Your reasoning is rarely better than just a personal dislike , for him.
You might give him your orders to win the next three games, no matter how depleted his squad is. Because you don’t respect him. No other reason. That’s by the by , what’s relevant is you wouldn’t know what to do if he lost those games, that could possibly mend the situation. That’s if you had to, which you don’t, some sort of safety net wouldn’t you say.

It's Roy's job to find out how to win a game with what he has at his disposal. Staying in this league means winning every now and again, particularly against teams that are lower, other wise they catch you up and you sink down lower, simple really.
Considering the teams we have upcoming, I think playing for a win is reasonable. And if Roy plays out for another 0-0 (Oooh I don't have the players, the youngsters contribute nothing etc) don't be surprised when the other team take the lead and there's no plan B.
btw - I don't know Roy so I can't dislike him. I do dislike however his overly negative approach to the game, which, given time affects all the players. We've seen this in his 3rd and 4th season here, and his term with the national side, ending with the debacle against Iceland.

The big conundrum. They are not good enough as they lack experience and they can’t gain experience because we can’t risk playing them. In my opinion this is why you should only introduce one youngster at a time. Putting all three on was asking for trouble, but as others have mentioned, perhaps that’s Roy saying that these are his only alternatives for fresh legs.

For this reason I would have started with either JRS or Franca and if they were struggling, take them off.

This becomes moot shortly as hopefully Eze and Olise will be back but it does beg the question then where the youngsters will gain their experience. Personally I think JRS should be on loan as should Ebiowei.

I really don’t think after a life time of avoiding these situations like the plague Hodgson would have given his views in public if it hadn’t become the subject of a hard to bare frustration. As we see here some condemn some don’t, but sticking purely to the football aspect of this, players have to be good enough , at Premier level there are absolutely no ifs or buts.
Franca, and Ahamada, are a slightly different question, but for all those coming through the academy , most are well short of the levels needed, in fact almost all struggle to establish in league 1and 2, why anyone thinks that gets a place in our team is hard to know.
The only times we have, or even should be playing three youngsters at time, was the team of the eighties, or more common if we were in administration. The one things for sure is we shouldn’t be forced to do so for lack of credible personnel in a normal season. Any idea Hodgson was ever up for this is just not credible .
Franca, and Ahamada. Call them out as not yet fit for purpose is surely a crack at the people that spent a lot of money buying them on the basis that they could be fit for purpose. Hodgson words, they are not as good as people pump them up to be, Francas only nineteen , more training needed. Who is people , other than people willing to put about thirty million on them?

Roy in his latest press conference has conceded that he was wrong to make the comments and has apologised to the three players.

He did say he has got faith in them and suggested it was more the fact that they were expected to change the game against top of table Spurs and hopefully next time they get a chance it'll be against lesser opposition.

Also hinted that Eze and Olise may start against Everton and that Eze may be close to signing a new contract!

Well done Roy. Whether it was Parish having a word, or Roy realising that he'd said the wrong thing at the wrong time and it had been picked up by pundits and fans alike, he's come out and done the right thing, apologising to the youngsters for his over reaction.

Agree.

It's the best possible thing he could of done, although it shouldn't have happened in the first place, though we're all human and he's done his best to address it and make amends.

Onwards and upwards.

Well done to Roy for holding his hands up and admitting his error. Many PL managers have too big an ego for that. Of course we'll really know how he feels by his actions.

Just to add my twopenneth, I agree that Roy recovered the situation well in his presser today.

I know there was a lot of speculation about how he'd referred to the three young subs, but I believe he genuinely has faith in their development and he spoke those words out of frustration very shortly after a tough game.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Totally agree!!! I saw it as him challenging them to establish themselves in the first team but due to frustration of losing he didn’t convey the message very well.

Takes a big man to apologise like this - good on him.
I have often felt that Roy is clumsy in his choice of words at press conferences. I suspect he didn't mean to say what he said - it just came out wrong.
He needs to be a bit more cautious in his choice of words in future (although I never thought I'd find myself urging Roy to be even more cautious than he already is!)
