Welcome back and good luck to Roy and Ray. I doubt we will play scintillating football for the remainder of the season, but that is not the priority. Roy will know it's a stop-gap gig, and he is as good or better than any other option in that regard. I tell you what I'd be interested to know: How many of you that (recently) wanted Vieria sacked are also now moaning and bitching about Roy being appointed? Surely we must realise that sacking a manager at this stage of a season very rarely goes hand in hand with attracting an ideal, long-term replacement.

Despite all the ill informed punditry, Vieira was clueless and had to be sacked. The fact that the board got rid of him in these circumstances tells you all you need to know.
Glad to see that Ray Lewington is also back as first/team coach and Paddy is assistant manager. That's a good combination

I admire your optimism Silvertop. Not the staying in this division, I think that's probably 50/50. It's the few good signings. If we'd have had them last summer we wouldn't be in this position. I suspect if we stay up, it will be too many players having their contracts renewed for another year, a couple of decent signings and some promising youngsters who are loaned out for 2-3 seasons and only ever play for Palace in pre season friendlies. That's what tends to happen. Originally posted by silvertop
In August we will still be playing in this division, have a new manager and a few good signings; and all this hysteria will be forgotten. This club has sought to operate sustainably since it came up. It's a hard watch when others around us who we perceive to be smaller are not and are marching on. Nevertheless, we don't go out with the cheque book and panic buy the most expensive available manager. We get a holding manager who knows and loves the club and take our time seeking the best fit for the right price. And on that, there are some incredible coaches out there who would die for the one or two manager positions in this league. It is a buyer's market. Even for our budget. Mods, give that Waddy pr1ck a yellow card. Probably a Brighton Troll. Roy will keep us up in the Prem. Survival is more important than playing attractive football. Yes I was shocked by Waddy's post too. "your" when it should be "you're" merits a red.

Lets calm down. I think it was always in SP's mind to get Roy back. It's been established there are limited options.

Absolutely adds up. We have 10games to get 12 points. Roy knows the club the players know him and his methods. That gives a fighting chance of sorting out the mess asap. Also Roy has a pretty decent record eeking out narrow victories against the weaker teams. Secure safety and then regroup seems like a sensible plan. I agree. There is no familiarisation time. Roy does a job for a few games and 🤞 we make it. Managerial options at the end of the season are much wider. Conte….Potter….etc???? This is just a fight to the end and I believe if PV was there we would definitely have been knocked out. Look at us since October!! Let’s all just get behind Roy and the team. And stop moaning about it as it is what it is. At least Roy cares. COYP!!!!

There’s a classic headline in the Daily Star, ‘Roy Hodgson replaces Roy Hodgson as the Premier League’s oldest manager…’
