Since we beat West Ham we have failed to beat Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham. We have not exactly played City every week. I wouldn’t have us as favourites to beat a single team in this division at the moment. We are in serious trouble. Should we lose to Leicester, after suffering losses to Brighton and Arsenal,God forbid, I will form this viewpoint. Edited by Willo (12 Mar 2023 9.48pm)

I think Brighton is a telling game - we have to be in the game against our rivals. Tame display, no shots, abject defeat = gone in my opinion. A manager has to be able to demonstrably motivate a side. Parish will want to see a fight against Brighton, he will want to see passion and a real go. If we limp to a defeat it will show that PV just doesn't get CPFC or what we are about.

Brighton have their fullbacks moving into midfield akin to those at Man C and this will prove a particular tactical challenge. An abject defeat will herald a chorus of execration aimed at the players and Vieira.Supporters will be in a state of apoplexy, coils of smoke rising from heads.

I think the context Tim is we’ve set a record for not having an effort on target, bottom of the table for attacking statistics, months without winning, out of both cups, have the lowest work rate in the league and once again have showed little to suggest that is going to change. Sack a manager now? Yes, this would be exactly the time most managers would expect to get sacked.and the facts back that up. I just can’t see the case to keep him on. Whether anyone likes it or not I think he’ll be gone soon. The only thing I can say at this juncture is the tough run we’ve had but even saying so myself it sounds like a very weak excuse. Laying all this on the manager is purely based on emotion. Half way through the season, we were mid table. We still are now, after playing teams who are above us. It's like sailing a badly constructed boat through a storm and the boat is taking on water. But the storm is almost over. And neither of those factors are the fault of the captain, or manager in our case. But let's chuck him overboard anyway. And when the storm ends, we'll still have a badly constructed boat taking on water. But now we have no captain/manager. Edited by Tim Gypsy Hill '64 (13 Mar 2023 1.25am)

I see a lot of posts mentioning we are ok defensively. I think the context needs to be put in place in that if we play with most of our team in our own half we don't look like conceding many goals. Problem is if we win the ball there is no one to pass to in a forward position or we chip it up to Wilf who is easily out muscled. The problem is that our better acting players - the likes of Olise and Eze are not good when they are called on to do the defensive side of the game. Olise as well as conceding the penalty did not always track the runs of Ake. Eze has had similar issues when he has played meaning the manager is reluctant to play both in the same team. I also think our full back's are collectively 2 of the weaker ones compared to the other team's in the premier league. Again in the last few games we don't see them support the front players meaning our front players are isolated. Again part of the reason is the front players are not able to hold on to the ball meaning if we the ball is lost and our full backs are up the field we are vulnerable to a counter attack. Lakonga looks a good addition and if we play the ball out from the back through the middle he can help find our forward players.

Managers get sacked when the owners think there is someone else who can and should do better. So unless they are going to replace him with a magician he is going nowhere.

I think that’s a fair assessment and as much as we moan about Matteta and Edouard the service to them is abysmal. There will be no excuses after our next two matches if we don’t change our style of play and push forward to support our front players. This will leave us vulnerable defensively but we have to go for it or the championship beckons. And yes, Luka has gone and Reidewald should have started rather than him. Sadly PV doesn’t rate him?

Starting Luka against one of the sharpest midfields in the league should have anyone questioning Vieira's judgement. I'll say again: I don't think Vieira knows his best side or his preferred formation.
