I think you identified the key. Bit by bit. The team already looks better with Lakongo. Here's the thing, I dont think we can buy a bona fide striker (too expensive) so the hope must be that JP or Eddie comes thru. Originally posted by palace chick
Dacoure and Lakonga making that midfield stronger

So many excellent performances today. Guehi was magnificent, Doucoure and Lokonga bossed the midfield and Olise was superb yet again. It’s just so disappointing to see Vieira continue to handicap the team’s chances by picking the hopeless duo of Schlupp and Mateta week after week. Why does he keep doing it? It’s absolutely bizarre.

I was out watching it at the pub. I am one of the first to criticise Palace but the performance tonight was full of grit, determination and effort. It was a well deserved point against a top team. Personally I was pleased with the performance as I liked the hassling, the quick movement and the positive play., Yes, there were some poor moments but that was a point earned by effort and I was pleased to see it. I won’t agree with any criticism about that performance tonight.

This seems really wrong headed and myopic in our circumstances. Schlupp was probably my man of the match in the first half and if u just looked at it on balance u might v well conclude the same thing. And I think JP had one of his better games, and certainly if the choice is Eddie and JP, none has done enough to have his name nailed on. Once aagain wrong headed s***E! The web site is histrionic, we need to do better as fans. We aint Man U, Chelski, Liverpool, we are Palace, it should mean something. Edited by Alex55 (26 Feb 2023 12.19am)

I wasn't at that game, but yeah, that was bad. Southend loss I think was away, so it's a coin toss.
Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers |

Schlupp did ok first half so he should not be a focal point of any ire today. Mateta was dreadful however. First half within about 10-15 there was a moment he was chasing down (I think Matip) towards their byline and just very bizarrely gave up the ghost completely for reasons unknown, leading to plenty of anger amongst those around me and rightly so. Was quite surreal if anything. He also had at least two very good chances where you’d expect and PL striker to score one if not both but if I’m honest I didn’t even feel any way about as I honestly didn’t get any hopes up. I really like him and do not think he’s someone who deserves any real hatred or overly harsh condemning however he’s probably very far from what we or anyone else needs. Im not quite sure why you have elected yourself the chief of footballing and Palace virtue but calm down, it’s a football forum. Probably best not to moan about every single post and the users en masse given it’s beyond pointless and as far as I am aware there are no longer any medals awarded for such behaviour by the club. It’s a very, very good point today let alone a clean sheet however all is not and almost definitely cannot ever be perfect. There’ll always be something to b!tch about and I’d question anyone claiming to be a football fan who didn’t moan about something at least some of the time. Otherwise why bother discussing matches on any forum ever?
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
