He will live in a beautiful climate and be the Hero of Jeddah overnight as he freely scores for The Tigers. What is there not to like? Just be tragic for us to see him go... If he goes, he will be sorely missed. Wilf, I dearly hope you stay, but if you go, Best of luck Apart from living in a very unsafe country with his children and the appalling human rights atrocities that are common place there, nothing.

A move to Saudi Arabia is just a money move, there's no point pretending otherwise. No top player gives a crap about league football outside Europe. It's why even Brazilians come here in droves. Winning anything in Asia is tin pot and Wilf knows this, Ronaldo knew it. The things is, the latter had already won all the major trophies in Europe. If Wilf goes there it is an admission that no top club wanted him at this stage of his career. He is still clearly very important to us but paying him 200k would set a dangerous precedent. It would basically set him well apart from the rest of the squad and could create disharmony among the better players like Guehi, Andersen and Olise who might want close to parity to stay.

Daily life for a non drinking sporting icon who plays for the local big team living in any of the 3 major cities in KSA these days isn't bad at all, ( no where near as oppressive as it would have been 20 years ago) Al Ittihad are based in Jeddah, right on the red sea coast, healthy diet, fresh fish all year round, the people that sponsor a club like that would make sure he has good accommodation in an elite style compound, transport wouldn't be a problem, he will have people to take care of his needs, ( he isnt going to be in the queue down at the local offices getting his paperwork stamped) the driving in Jeddah (especially at roundabouts) can be a bit erratic but overall the roads are wide & most of the time less traffic than driving in Fort Neef, he would have a multi entry visa so he & his family can come & go as they please - All on 9 Million a year tax free, which would allow him plenty to bolster his personal fortune & support whatever causes / charities he pleases -when he decides he has had enough & maybe wants to return to the UK to do his coaching badges etc it would be an easy transition home - Originally posted by Painter

Trouble is, I bet Wilf doesn't even know what he wants at this point... he does lack some mental maturity on some situations, he's still a young bloke.. we forget too easily that being past it in football, is still a young kid in the real world. If he truly wants trophies... then it's European trophies he needs, the rest aren't worth the ticket admission.

There are a load of European clubs out there playing good football, none are guaranteed to lift a trophy. With Zaha I always thought it was about money, and the "want to win some silverware" was a bit of a ruse. His next move will decide what he truly wants.

By the time he starts anywhere else he will be nigh on 31. Not convinced he will become a star now at the top levels of european football. His fame is already secure as Palace's top man. As you say, his summer decision which he has to make should answer the thoughts.

He can be a good squad player for any top European club and a far cheaper option.. plus that desire... He needs to hit form now - shop window and all

As I've said before I think it would destabilise the other players at the club if he decided to stay put

The journalist Fabrizio Romano, who is well connected and fairly reliable, has indicated that there are s few Premier League clubs in for him as well as overseas teams.

£200k a week for a player who mainly stands out wide waiting for the ball to come to him and when it does he is usually dispossessed through overplay. Reminds me again of the kid in the playground who in the end nobody passed to because he was so greedy.

He doesn't beat players like he used to, he doesn't have the same explosive pace, and he gives the ball away a bit too much...but...he is still explosive around the 18-yard box and is a potential match winner. There are surprisingly few players like him in the PL. I know we haven't scored in the two games he's been back, but he is the only one who has looked likely to with the offside and a couple of close attempts out of nothing. One thing is for certain, it is clear we don't have a readymade replacement right now if he leaves.
