Ref had a good game - played some excellent advantages.

Didn't see that coming after an excellent first half. However I knew that once we didn't actually score, and of course there it was in the second half.
How we need a centre midfielder, Schlupp simply cannot play there. Please Steve get us someone.
Forget today, I think whats frustrating is seeing teams like Brighton and Brentford, who are meant to be similar to us, not splash out and find gems. What is Dougie doing why can't we tempt these players to us? Then they work hard. We seem so slow and lazy at points. That's down to PV.

Basically we have no midfield, 2 forwards who sit on the bench, while ayew plays there. And 2 full backs with a combined age of 64, one who's a right back playing left back. Oh, and a manager who brings on those 2 centre forwards, while taking off our best 2 creative (and I use the word loosely) players. That's schoolboy tactics...

Losing 0-3 then 0-4 at home to moderate teams.

We cannot compete with anything other the lessor teams and we have fast become one of them.

I wouldn't be so down if PV seemed to have a grasp of what the real problems are.

All the signs are that PV has lost the plot. So disappointed in someone I thought would be a tonic to the team.

Thought we were the better side in the first half, second half the difference was Harry Kane.Once again in a big game Wilf goes missing,we need to pressure the top sides like Brentford do and not give them so much respect. We should have started with either Mateda or Edouard for the option for balls into the box.

The first half was split Spurs had the edge for first 20-25 and we were much better second period of first half. After that disaster and frankly we are not that good, we lack proven EPL quality players and the inexperienced younger players are not showing that consistent quality yet. Some of course are well past their best days and need to be replaced but due to lack of activity in past windows and an inexperienced manager is now biting us!

The result does not reflect our overall performance.

They had slightly more possession, but we had more shots and more corners.

Their keeper was probably busier than ours, and, to his credit, he made some smart saves.

Credit it to the lads for pressing right to the end.

Luck is a big factor, and I think they enjoyed more of it.

On another day, the three points could have been our’s.

On that showing, nothing to lose any sleep about.

We got knocked down but we get up again.

COYP!

And again we play without a balanced midfield. Eze and Olise need to be on the bench if Zaha plays. It’s the only way we can get a fighting midfield supporting the defence and attack. Eze and Olise are just too lightweight for us :-(

Gotta agree, they really are not as good as some would have you believe. Not bad at dead ball stuations but as for defending and winning the ball back well... Ward has to go too. he's been a liabilty season after season.

I think this is mainly down to the players on the pitch. Too many attack minded players who are good with the ball but very lazy without it. No pressure on the opposition that Gallagher gave us last season is making it too easy for the better teams.

Our midfield is a real concern, top teams are walking through us without any difficulty. Too much pressure on Doucoure and no support.

I think PV needs to rethink the starting 11 against top teams. Zaha, Eze, Olise, Sclupp and Ayew together sounds lovely but weakens our midfield strength too much and we get punished easily. It also then means we need to score at least 2 in every game to get a win or a draw, and scoring goals against the better teams is never easy without a brilliant striker that we can't afford to buy.

Time for a rethink PV, especially with the games coming up...

Agree with you 100% Our midfield is the problem and PV has gone the whole season not realising this. My concern when he took Eze and Olise off was that he was saving them for Saturday rather than realising they are the problem :-( We can’t play flamboyant players who don’t work hard enough supporting the defence and Doucoure in the middle. I worry that if we did get Gallagher back he would drop Doucoure. Don’t think PV knows what he is doing?

I’m not convinced ! I think the result did prove a number of key factors

1) we are always slow to wake up FACT we wait we watch
2) Midfield sorry to be blunt but their no 11 was free reign in midfield- FACT Schlupp was chasing himself - he was a free mid as Doherty had free reign on our flank Ward struggled
3) we woke up - 24 mins in FACT we cannot finish chances - 4 shots did not hit the net
4) EZE & Olise for some reason seem afraid to take on players FCT they go so far & end up passing it back or EZE always look to pass it to Wilf - EZE be selfish for a change
5) the team like the Fulham / Everton / Leicester games showed no heart tonight FACT our midfielders are not Prem level it’s ok to admit Schlupp & Hughes are championship level along with Ward getting on a bit

I’m ok with us at present I need to stop expecting more from the team - they have a good wage nice sports cars & houses to show for the Heart they bring

Please for those supporters asking for Pat to leave or he doesn’t know what he is doing :
1) it’s his first season take a look at Lampard,Rooney,That scouser bloke & Kompany how did/are they doing ?
2) Steve have a chat with your mates & get a modifier that can attack ,Striker who can score ,Defender who can lead - 3key players
3) let Milo ,Hughes,Schlupp go - McArthur Ward,Clyne will struggle in 23/24 & Ferguson is another Wickham ( he’s a free agent by the way 🤣&#129315

You watched a different game to me. We played well at times in the first half against a side lacking confidence but apart from the Ayew moment didn’t really look like scoring. At half time Conte said all you have to do is pressure their defence and use the spaces all over their midfield. And twenty minutes later it’s 4-0. Not quite sure where the luck is in that.

Several on here have mentioned our main failing - the lack of a creative midfielder.

At the moment we can just about hold our own against teams below us
but will never improve until our main weakness is addressed.

I am afraid Schlupp is not even a passable midfielder and should be replaced by Hughes until we find a Barry Bannon, Jonjo Shelvey type who can hold the ball and take it forward.

Doesn't matter who you have upfront, if they don't get the service we won't score.

At this rate I can see us hovering above the relegation zone come February.

We're 10 years into the Premier League and Jeffrey Schlupp is our second best CM. With the possible exception of Bournemouth, I'd argue we have the worst central midfield options in the league. That's a major, major issue.

Based on last year we've effectively lost Gallagher, Kouyate and McArthur and brought in one. Totally inept management of the club. The cheque book has to open immediately and we need to bring someone in with Premier League experience to steady the ship in midfield.

Use Butland as leverage and get Scott McTominay.
