Another unconvincing Jekyll and Hyde performance. However, a welcome 3 points, and a tremendous second half effort. When is Vieira going to accept hat 4-3-3 doesn't work with this particular set of players? He doesn’t need to accept anything, it’s way he wants us to play, I doubt he is going to change.

Talk about a game of two halves, well I was very thankful for my Prime membership at the final whistle. But, why don't we come out all guns blazing from the kick-off? We could have had the game won by half time if we started play with that 2nd half passion and pace. Wilf was excellent and has improved his mentality since PV arrived, although he still has his petulant moments and tends to go it alone a tad too much. A couple of years ago I would have been happy to see him go - not any more. Do we know why he changed his boots? I must say I preferred the second pair.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I think your first point does have value if only for pondering. I have opined (away from HoL) a few times this season that it's almost as if we expect to control games from the off and grab a couple of goals by full time. TBF this has worked thrice now however I'm not sure starting so slowly and allowing poor opposition (Wolves, AV, Leeds) a starting goal/lead is the most productive of tactics?? We've seen the two sides of Wilf this season, the petulant, sulky and seemingly disinterested one and the more mature, game by the scruff of the neck, goal getting one. Luckily we saw the latter yesterday and hope to see far more of him this season.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Great result, although I had a bet at 25-1 for the following 'accumulator' with Ladbrokes: Palace to win - Check

We're an odd team this season. Much like the Leeds result I'm elated we've won, but not convinced by the 90 minute performance that achieved it. 100% agree. Good in patches, awful in others. Whilst the 2 centre backs are rocks we look suspect down the flanks and the personnel in the 3 man midfield is just not working. At one point early 2nd half Eze closed down on the left by the half way line and the ball was played in field. Doucoure went to close down and the ball was passed around him. I then realised that Jeff was even further forward. So at the point when Wolves were entering our half we had no midfielders in place. Surely one of Jeff and Doucoure needs to hold position when the other goes forward. We also seem to sit back the moment we take the lead. This invites pressure. We had some dodgy moments in the last 10 minutes. Better teams will punish us. However, 2 great goals and 3 fantastic points

It might give us a bit more in the middle and Wilf was certainly more dangerous operating centrally last night. I can see this being a full on dull defensive display with the hope of hitting on the break for a 1-0 steal. Luca and Hughes (if fit) to start. The prospect of starting Luca does not fill me with hope but going all out defend could play to his strengths. Ayew should start and will "win" about 90 free kicks. And will you lot get off Schlupp. He has not been our worst player in the last few games; indeed, along with Guita, our best v Leicester. On whom... Some (straw-clutching) perspective. Brighton (who it pains me to admit are very good) held to a 0-0 draw at home by Forest; while Leicester pummeled them 4-0. Our away performance against Leicester where each side cancelled the other out perhaps not so shabby?

Chelsea and Brentford punished us when we should have been game managing in the middle of the park.

From BBC Sport: "Wolves then opened the scoring to end an away goal drought just five minutes shy of eight hours - 475 minutes to be precise..." What was imprecise about "five minutes short of eight hours" then?
