I may be wrong, I need to watch it again, but just before Brentford’s goal, it was Wilf that failed to close down on one of their players, he just stood off of him

Why this obsession with replacing players because they are "tired?"
Whatever explanations PV must have after this surrender, he just scr...ed it up. We were leading 1-0, running the show and the stadium was rocking. And then this!! I just don't get it and when will the boss learn?
A lot of positives in 2nd half - till those changes. The goal was just a top Wilf goal, Doucoure oozes class to mention two.
I can honestly not remember such a surrender in our last PL stint (and I have seen close to all matches due to the fact that Thai TV show them live.)
It was worse than (most) anything Roy H, came up with and please, let Schlupp become a sub set for the last 15-20 minutes when we are chasing a goal.
And since dreaming is still allowed, please sign CG before the window closes.

Very dissapointing finish to the game with sloppy defending yet again. Pat got his subs wrong and Brentford could easily have snatched all 3 points at the death. Please don't start Jeff Schlupp at Newcastle.

Only just back!

Probably been mentioned already but some points from me:

Weren’t at our best tonight, not awful but looked sluggish and ambivalent
Wilf’s goal superb
Olise looks about 95% there so that’s great
Doucoure quickly becoming my favourite player
Ward looks better now than he did before he started declining (for me)
I still think clyne looks superb. Don’t need AWB with any desperation
Schlupp looked knackered after about 30 mins (may just be me)
Mateta didn’t do much but didn’t have much of anything to work with
Eze looked ‘off the boil’
Pat’s subs were once again somewhat bemusing as was the decision to switch formations at that point, we went from looking in control and under little threat to looking disorganised and inviting them to give it a go, then we conceded. We then could have easily lost the match at several points as we looked all over the gaf.
I think a lot of gratitude is sorely missing for Luka and there’s too much vitriol for me personally but he is, as all players will be, done at this level.

1-1 probably a fair result but the manner bitterly disappointing. We weren’t a million miles off being able to ride that one out or even get another. Pat needs to learn from mistakes but overall I’m not too despondent.

As always, COYP!!! Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Saves me writing loads - I agree with him!

Considering Brentford could and should have won it in the last 7 minutes I’m grateful for the point we did not deserve. We are next up at Newcastle on Saturday and with our error prone defence and non existent strikers I fear the worse as we tumble towards the relegation zone!

Have to agree with everyone here. Doucoure is class. Well spotted PV.

On the subject of substitutions doesn't Ossian Roberts give his opinion, or is he part of this problem too? Because it almost seems as though PV is being too nice and giving players game time to be fair to them, like a Sunday league match - think Luka.

Games like there's need winning when we get the chance.
Viera wasted that chance with his ridiculous tactics at the end last night.
Next 4 games - tough and maybe zero points?
However - we are Palace so we expect the unexpected!

Doucoure needs a genuine midfielder alongside him, one who really knows his craft and position, not a pseudo inside left pretender or fake number 10 wannabe.

I think Wilfred sums up what happened in his post match interview. He laments why the heck did we switch shape and tactics when we were winning and there were few threats? PV is great for what he's done and is doing but he also needs to "improve" and "be brave". When Olise went off (who was doing a great job helping out in defence I might add) and all the sub changes we lost our shape and became confused and they scored. However, having said that, I don't think it was bad tactics necessarily to have a defensive part of our game - it's just that they need to be organised when doing so. We did awesome first half against City but Mitchell looked a bit jaded. I viewed the footage, and Mitchell had to leave his marker to "TRY" to cover the scorer who was left unattended. Somebody didn't know their role. Brentford were awesome defending BTW and we need to emulate them. Lucky to get a point.

Although frustrating to only get a point hopefully last night highlighted the lack of depth in the squad. We dropped points last night because Brentford’s attacking subs were better than our defensive subs. If we are serious about a top 10 finish we need better options than Luka or Ayew.

We have 48 hours left of the window to fix the problem. 2 x central midfielders are absolutely priority. Schlupp is not good enough to be starting and we need a decent alternative on the bench.

Yes. Been banging on about this for a long time: our midfield is simply not up to scratch (exception Doucoure). Others think that it's the forward line, but take a closer look and you'll see that the midfield is incredibly thin, not only in numbers but also in depth and quality.
