Good to see Rak-Sakyi score the winner for Charlton today! He missed two absolute sitters beforehand. I watched a fair chunk of their previous game and despite the 4-0 win he was little involved and got subbed TBH, admittedly it was only the highlights, but a guy playing in his league debut for Charlton who has just turned 19, Tyreece Campbell, looked very impressive going forward. Strongly built and a left-sided defender, definitely one to keep an eye on

Strongly built and a left-sided defender, definitely one to keep an eye on I haven't seen any games involving Charlton so I don't know what his overall contribution has been like. On a general note though, for academy players going out on loan to lower league clubs it is probably make or break. If Rak-Sakyi, Banks, the Boatengs etc don't stand out at places like Charlton and Bradford, then the club is inevitably going to think twice about keeping them on when they return. I can imagine it can be quite a tough and challenging time for youngsters finding themselves sent off to distant places away from friends and family. They also, for the first time, find themselves up against tough seasoned pros week in week out. I also wonder how the are received at their loan club - I can imagine there may be some resentment at a youngster from a PL club coming in and taking the place of a senior player at the host club. And if you are from a PL side they may want to quickly put you in your place and make sure you don't get ideas above your station, so to speak.

Rak-Sakyi assisted the Charlton equaliser last night and scored a penalty in the shoot out helping his team through to the next round From the CAFC website another snipped 'For Charlton, it was Jes Rak-Sakyi, down the Addicks right that caused most problems in the opening half, with two Stevenage players picking up yellow cards for fouls after being beaten by the tricky winger.' From previous comments and general reports I think Rak-Saky is one of the stand out players for Charlton this year. Whether that means he can continue to improve and step up remains to be seen but his loan spell is the most successful one I can recall for a Palace player. He will definitely be in better shape to compete for the first team over the summer

He had successful loans and was highly rated. When loaned at Championship level Brentford they were ready to pay £1m for him. It didn't happen and he was released a year later. Now at Wycombe. Hopefully Palace can better manage player development now

Although not academy, lest we forget Remi Mathews. Promoted for this campaign to the Scottish Premiership, St Johnstone sits 6th and has moved into relatively solid contention for Europe. Has played every minute since arrival except for last week's Rangers win (hip knock in training, but already back). 19 conceded in 14, 3 clean sheets. Several Team of the Week placements for the Premiership. Off pitch at the club level, he appears to have ingratiated himself into the culture of St.J club and supporters while simultaneously doing the same for us - much like Conor's spell here. (his twitter feed bears this out.) On a two year ending 5/23 at £280,000 per ( [Link] ), Transfrmarket lists hima at €300K. Although now through demonstrable performance he would be worth much more, especially if StJ were to make Europe. Sadly, I suspect that he might be off to StJ on a free, with us not capturing his increased value.

Rob Street scored the opening goal in Shrewsbury's 3-2 win over Bolton earlier today. Good to see he's getting regular 1st team football in League 1.

Killian Phillips the latest out, off to Shrewsbury. Sometimes I wonder if the players we loan out, aren't better than the ones we have got.

I posted about this sometime ago but had my head chewed off. I basically suggested that if you're not as good as Luka or Reidewald, what is that saying? You would literally be non league at best. Probably not even a footballer.
