Disgraceful second half. Manager again showed at times he is clueless and the players didn't even need to really do much knock the ball around be boring keep doign what other teams do waste time fall to ground. Wilf again showed he is not a top player and its about time he stopped getting special treatment from the club when not performing. It’s a wonder our players and staff got off safe. It was a disgrace and obvious after the first pitch invasion. The police just stood by and the stewards who I accept are just part time agency staff were useless.

For me it was strange subs again by PV, Eze was easily the best player on the pitch, but in my opinion Sclupp, Hughes and Mateta also had good games, to take all three off for players who are not even going to be at the club next season was mystifying.

Every time an Everton player fell over the entire Everton team (and crowd) were screaming for a red card. Every handball by us was a penalty. And apparently its ok for your goalkeeper to run to the halfway line and scream for a red card into the referee's face.

Everyone was intimidated…players, referee, police, etc. We are safe for another year, we know there are a number of areas we can still improve and now look forward to Sunday. Let’s no over complicate things….if I was a Palace player last night, I would just want to leave the ground ASAP and get home in one piece

First half we started to take the pi$$ a bit with some flicks and tricks and I think at half-time it looked like we were going to cruise it in second gear against an awful Everton side running on fumes. Second-half Dele Ali came on and suddenly Everton had a player who could carry the ball and keep possession and they went up a gear. We didn't respond and just went deeper. In the end I think it was really down to the fact that Everton had more desire and all it needed was that first goal and then the players struggled to cope with the atmosphere, which must have been really intimidating. The cameras picked up the home fans screaming abuse two feet from the players' faces every time they took a throw-in or corner. I do kind of think the two halves were a good summary of our season as a whole in terms of the good and the bad: first half we played some lovely football at times and had control of the ball and the game; second half we struggled to deal with aggression and direct balls into the box. As to Everton, imagine spending a billion pounds to look like Burnley!

I'm still trying to work out how we managed to lose that game after dominating much of it. We sat back too much in the second half which was totally unnecessary. I guess we are not used to being 2-0 up at half time.

A bit like Manchester United trying to keep up with City.

None of the top players and indeed better teams are frightened or put off by hostile crowds.

With the benefit of a few hours for the dust to settle. Its obviously pretty gutting to lose a game like that. It was so obvious in the first half that we are miles ahead of them. Like miles. 2 nil at HT was deserved. We had a few openings at 2 nil that we should have made more of but didn’t. And to be fair, whilst the 2nd half didn’t go our way, they didn’t batter us. They pretty much had 3 openings and scored all of them. Not excusing it, but it was a pretty mad situation, they were fighting with everything they had. Fans almost willing the ball in. But look, its just a game. It shows that there is work to do but still tonnes of positives. Eze being one in particular, head and shoulders above the rest. I suspect Luka only got on the pitch as Macca was injured and CK’s comments. But I suspect he wont get much more game time. Benteke, just doesn’t make sense in any situation. In theory if we cant get the ball to stick up top, put him on to give us an out ball, but it just doesn’t work. One occasion with no pressure, he chested it onto his own arm and then booted it off for a goal kick. Hi might stay for the cash, but if I was PV I’d make it clear that he will not be playing next season

Yep, a ridiculous amount of money if you look at the figures. Apparently, it is now worthy of a pitch invasion when you manage to beat an 'on the beach', experimental Palace side, at home, on a Thursday night. I would love further catastrophe at Everton but they are now a long way from being annual 4th-8th place battlers, which they certainly were. Boring team, boring club, rat fans and I'd be glad to see the back of them.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
