Our first poor performance for a while and it wasn't that bad. I thought Anderson and Guehi were poor today though, but losing Mitchell didn't help our shape. I thought Leicester were the better team for the first hour and deserved their lead. We were better once McArthur and Eze came on but we were too slow at the back and made it too easy for Leicester.

Eze making a strong claim to start against Chelsea, but other than that not much to shout home about.

I agree with this. Over the balance of play I would have been happy with a point but no complaints that we got no points.

The goalkeeper in question was Zeljko Kalac who is well 'North' of 6 feet.

But the next year Hopkin looked to curl one in

In view of Vieira's comments about Gallagher's 'disappointment' at not being available for the semi final, I'm surprised he played him today. I mean, I can understand that he wants to put out his strongest side and win as many points as possible, but there was also a case for fielding the team that will start against Chelsea. I accept there's a worry about Olise and now Mitchell.

Lame!

Why on earth we are playing it continually side to side across the back line when 2-1 down with only 5 minutes to go, I just don’t know. Leicester are just totally comfortable with that.

We seemed obsessed by it, inviting the Leicester players in all the time. And with Ward on it became even worse. What is wrong with hoofing the ball when we are 1-2 down with 5-6 mnutes to go? For the Wembley game, please add the young kid on the bench for Mitchell.

We conceded poor goals.

For the 1st goal, Dewsbury-Hall was in acres of space between the lines.
There was a large gap between our central defender and right-back.
Lookman ran past Clyne into that large gap and eventually scored.
Andersen's mobility on the turn was exposed as Lookman easily went by him to shoot home.

For the 2nd goal, Guehi error in cutting out the ball.
Dewsbury-Hall runs unchallenged into the box, Kouyate then gets to him but the Leicester player is allowed to turn and shoot on his favoured left-foot.
Andersen should have advanced up to the Leicester player when he turned Kouyate instead of just standing off the man.

Just a thought, only that, but I was terrified of a Chelsea loss this weekend as I feared the wrath of the ex-billionaires in the semi-final. I am now hoping that the annual drubbing of Southampton being gifted to them will have calmed them somewhat as it's off their chest and they may relax coming to Wembley.

Conversely, I don't think it too bad a thing for us to put in our poorest performance of late, right before the semi-final. One would hope that a sense of disappointment will lie within the players and PV, sparking perhaps a few hair-dryer moments, the odd swear word or 'sacre bleu!' and hopefully an intense building of momentum and desperation for atonement which leads to a gut busting, oligarch thrashing performance in the semi-final!

Wishful thinking perhaps but within the realms of possibility and sanity I'd suggest! COYP

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We were simply outthought and outplayed by a much better team.

which is a concern as Leicester made a number of changes, are in the middle of a 2 leg European tie, and even with their best team are not pulling up any trees this season.

Perhaps we are not as good as some think we are, or at a minimum lack a level of consistency.

Most certainly our brand of football is more exciting we have signed a real talent in Olise, furthermore Guehi and Mitchell have recently been selected for England.Mateta is much improved from last season and is now the preferred central striker.

In terms of our respective league positions after 31 PL games :

2020-21 : 10 wins, 38 pts, Scored 33, conceded 52, 13th position
2021-22 : 8 wins, 37 pts, Scored 43, conceded 40 10th position

People might point to the fact that we have reached the FA Cup semi-Final but the teams we have beaten on our journey are lower division teams in Millwall,Hartlepool and Stoke and a struggling Everton outfit with a less than impressive away record.

Unlike our rivals Chelsea Willo, who have overcome the mighty Chesterfield, the Titans of Plymouth, the warriors of Luton and the immovable object that is the Middlesboro team to reach us!
