RA and Putin a closely linked in business. I nicked this piece off NEILLO from 9th Mar . . . Interesting that RA doesn't own the Freehold to Stamford Bridge. That belongs to the Ken Bates initiated group, Chelsea Pitch Owners. That came into being to prevent Chelsea's owners from selling the stadium and moving the club to a different site. So it would appear that Stamford Bridge cannot be sold for property development & must remain a Football Stadium, canny bloke that Ken Bates.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

And it will probably stop them from challenging at the top again. Unless they pull the same tricks Man City do of course. My guess is that Chelsea will become similar to spurs and arsenal, or West Ham. Before RA bought them they were beginning to challenge Arsenal but not quite there. This was while they were in £80-£90 million worth of debt during the stadium development. If it wasn’t for the huge debt and RA they’d be at best like Leicester then and now. The people I’m laughing at most are the people who haven’t had supporting Chelsea passed down to them through family, and that includes little Toby whose mum is looking forward to his first and only £200 trip to Chelsea. One young lady was on LBC yesterday complaining it wasn’t fair because she’s waited ages to go. Well boo hoo. But that Shelagh Fogarty wants it to go as far as possible of course. Matches stopped, relegation, whatever it was. She was right that after all the moronic phone callers their argument was just, ‘’It ain’t fair… Well football.’’

Apologies if this has been posted already but here's a clip of the journalist Matthew Syed commenting on RA's accumulation of wealth and his reasons for becoming involved with Chelsea in 2003. Goes to show how cynical the takeover was and raises questions as to how it was allowed.

Watching the news today, it looked lkke the Government are open to selling Chelsea as lkng as none of the proceeds goes to Abramovich or Russian interests. I think that Chelsea will be sold rather than it goto the wall. That being said, there are articles about Chelsea trying to offload their really high earners at the end of season ie. Lukaku, Werner, Havertz, Kante. The one player i'd love at Palace would be Pulisic. I think he is class.

Would be a culture shock for some of the newer Chelsea fans! For the others, perhaps they could have a 'scum-off' between them, whatever that might look like.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

The only person I can think of who would morosely benefit from Chelsea going to the wall and the massive disruption that would cause in football in Europe would be Putin. And he has quite a big say in the decision. In addition why would they sell the frozen asset for nothing???? e.g. give it away. RA still owns the club, unless we seize it from him which is not going to happen. No Putin would far rather it messes us NATO crowd up in any way he can.

So if Chelsea football club folds, I suppose Bates the Pitch owners could let it out to a newly formed sports club for a few bob a year. Or sell it to developers for zillions. Think they may change their tune at that point.
