A good position to be in the box, but neither of those attempts looked like scoring. Scuffers and lacking composure. I guess this is what happens when one leaves all the centre forwards on the bench and plays another as a winger.

Olise shot with his weaker right foot and the defender did not allow him to cut in on his left foot.

It was a tight angle for Zaha and Mendy might have saved it if the shot had been on target.

No we don't

We need to not lose.

The one thing which is worrying is if you look at the teams below us they have many games in hand but this is fine if we draw every game we would hit 39 points.

The pressure is on the teams below us to make up the points form those extra games they have also the schedule for those wont be great.

We have only won 1 of our last 9 PL games, and that was against struggling Norwich, and it would appear that the "R" word is now entering conversations and debates whereas a couple of months ago the narrative was the possibility of a top half finish.

At this juncture I remain cautiously optimistic that we will avoid the dreaded drop but two poor results against Watford and Burnley and I might start to consider that relegation is a realistic prospect.

Let's hope we are not going down a Pardew type season, great Cup run/falling off the cliff end of season. If so, this time the points cushion saving our backsides doesn't feel as comfortable. Next 2 games will see which direction we are heading. COYP !!

No doubt we are in a relegation fight. I’m sure Brentford feel the same way as do all mid table to bottom sides. Whatever manager we have we are a club fighting to stay up every season from game one. Eventually it will get us but hopefully we are good enough to stay up this season? Still rather play the way we are under Vieria than the football under Hodgson though.

Yep, well said chick. Certainly agree with you about our style of play this season.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I said this before and I will say it again, the difference for a club like us, between a mediocre season and a good season is 2/3 extra wins. That's all.

In the scheme of things, that doesn't instantly light up your season... scraping a win or getting lucky for instance.

However, the style of play, if it's enjoyable can make draws feel like wins and loses just unlucky... like Chelsea.

Where the magic for us is, in the cups... we should be going on cup runs, focusing on that. That generates 4/5 extra wins and excitement and also a final feels like a massive achievement.

It'll be three of Palace, Brentford, Watford, Burnley, Norwich.

How did we get ourselves in the frame? Suggest obsession with 4-3-3. I'm glad Patrick Vieira knows much more about football than I do, but would still like to know why Ayew starts ahead of Edouard. And if we are going to play Eze for five minutes and Newcastle wants him for £45m...

Leeds do look a bit of a shambles in defence and have now conceded 50 PL goals with only Norwich conceding more goals. They could well be dragged into the bottom three.

I think Burnley will climb clear but I agree with the other three plus us the way things are at the moment. The good news is we haven’t got long to wait to find out if we are going to be in a relegation struggle with those clubs or not. This time next week we will either be in it up to our necks or watching the rest of them fight it out between them. My gut feeling is it will be the former.

I was almost in line with Zaha's shot in the first half (in Glaziers stand) and, basically, it seemed to me he failed to put enough bend on the ball. Mendy wouldn't have got near it, had he done so.

that's an over reach... my feeling is we will be fine, we re on course for 40+ points.

Norwich are down, burnley have the chance to be equal with us if they win their games in hand, 3. Watford, we are 8 points clear and should be 11 points clear on Wednesday - if they beat us, then they deserve it and we deserve to only be 5 points clear of them.

Newcastle can turn it around.

Everton should be way higher.

Leeds, brentford, palace, villa, Southampton - these clubs just need to look up and focus not he games ahead as it's theirs to lose.

If it happens, it's deserved, simple as that.
