It will be a snooze fest tomorrow tho'...... Will work out for us. Germany don't seem to have that many goals in the team. As long as we can kill the game in midfield then we have a decent chance. Our attacking options have lots of depth and can punish anyone. 3 clean sheets so far should give us confidence. France went out to a team that drew with Wales. Portugal from the "group of death" also out. A narrow AET defeat for Croatia and win for the Czech Republic shows our group may have been stronger than people gave it credit for. Unlike '90 or '96 the premiership is now much stronger that the Bundesliga. Belgium or Italy definitely going out in the next round. It's a great opportunity for Germany/England. Seems like no one wants to believe we can win this game because we've all been through the motions so many times before. We can definitely do this

Person on the radio just now: "If England win tonight, they could win the whole thing" Me: "errrr, yes - that's how a knockout competition works!"

The Group stages were so badly organised, that the mentality of the teams were 'must not lose', and all games were dull. Originally posted by jeeagles

Seems like no one wants to believe we can win this game because we've all been through the motions so many times before. We can definitely do this The Germans don't look as imperious as previous years, they are lacking a striker, but as proved against the Hungarians still have the fight and Will to see them win from difficult positions. I'm expecting a Tense game, where we ride our luck sometimes, and it's whether we can 'click' enough up front and put away the chances we will definately get. I'm just the wrong generation to truly believe we will actually win this game! Such a depressing state to be in. - Even if we do win, we'll just go lose to Sweden. on penalties. But even beneath that unerring pessimism there is the fact that there is a small hint of belief in this group, and there is undoubted talent amongst us, there is still the hope that we can finally prevail. As Gary Neville said after the France game last night ; These group of players will never have a better opportunity than this.

Whilst they scored against Portugal and Hungary, their individual players have been far from prolific this season. Gnarbry managed 10 goals for Bayern Munich. Warner & Sane both only 6. They are definitely a side we could shut out. There is a defeatist national mindset of many in this country across all sport. Still expecting a dull game, but dull is fine against big teams.

Rugby + Cricket - the 'other' 2 main sports in this country definately do not have this. struggling to think of any that has.

The anti climax last night when the Swiss goalkeeper saved the deciding penalty… No-one wanted to celebrate in case they ordered a VAR review and retake. Such a desperately sad state of affairs, which is destroying the excitement and nullifying the passion and emotion.

An action packed couple of games last night. A bit of grit and excitement to the tournament now. No doubt we'll provide the antidote to that this afternoon though!

Though all jokes aside hopefully we'll be on form tonight. You never know.. and if we get past Germany the fixtures look good for us. Edited by BlueJay (29 Jun 2021 1.30pm)

Well done England. That's all.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
