Come on Mr Parish, let's see you taking a stand in the national media on behalf of the real football clubs. Oh well. I missed it. He was speaking on Radio 5 Live earlier. Basically saying the timing of the announcement was poor, during a pandemic and all. Described it as a Busted Flush.

The worst case scenario for us is the premier league and Uefa caves , which they will, and gives the big clubs more power. It will mean the big clubs become even more dominate, Arsenal can waste even more money and be more abject and still finish in the top six.

I'm surprised Celtic haven't been mentioned they are always desperate to quit the Scottish game, bit of a snub for them and Rangers that they are seen as minnows.

Speaking as an Irish supporter would happily see it as it might mean they win a game but Uefa and FIFa aren't going to ban players who play in the ESL. They both make money from the big tournaments and Champions league. Who is going to want to watch Belgium Play England if you replace De Bruyne with Beneteke and Kane with Troy Deeney!

The action I would like to see taken is the FA and Premier League, along with the Spanish and Italian Leagues and UEFA banish these clubs from their competitions immediately. Play hardball. In England the so called big 6 would then be told that should they wish to leave the European Super League and come back to English Football then they would have to start in the bottom tier of non league football. Give them the ultimatum that if they form a European Super League it will not be in tandem with them or indeed a B team playing in domestic football. I wonder if 1 or 2 may buckle? Unfortunately, I see this just as the big clubs flexing their power and money to get what they want. I hope tough action is taken against them.

One of the blockers for this not happening in the past was the fans. After all who could afford Barcelona week 1, Milan week 2 etc. Unfortunately COVID has demonstrated to the PL that you don't actually need fully packed stadium,s every week to survive. So one possible scenario would be the big 6 joining the super league and keeping the TV rights for their matches to themselves. Fans could then watch every away game on telly and possibly even all the home ones. I suspect that some of those involved have already been crunching the numbers to see which is the best option, less or no away fans versus total control over TV revenue and not having to share that revenue with the rest of the football family. Let's hope it doesn't happen. The problem with this (for them) is that a fan base comprising wholly armchair fans watching pay-per-view, means you have, on the one side, the Prem with its loyal fan base and atmosphere (i.e. one major brand element of our beautiful game) against what is already something of an artificial atmosphere of huge stadia packed with children and tourists. On the other hand, the Covid experience teaches us that they will simply pipe in crowd noise, so you get filled seats + artificial "atmosphere"; and canned laughter never hurt the sit-com format. "Fans" will just get used to it. What I hope it means is anyone owning up to being a "fan" of a rebel club will always feel the need to justify their support, claim to have been a fan since the 1960s, I'm not German I'm Swiss etc. Sadly, even that will evaporate in a generation. The big clubs will win in time. Anyway, all academic. I suspect it is just a leverage tactic to ensure the bigger clubs get an even bigger piece of the pie e.g. if they stay, say the highest placed 3/6 automatically qualify for the ECL with the other 3 for the Europa League etc.

It is a gamble for them and even if they back down how to they explain that to their own fans. Sorry we made a mistake? A mistake is turning up to a meeting not liking what your hear and leaving. These clubs have done that signed letters of intent and got financial backing. If they back down now I doubt even the most one eyed supporter will believe their weasel words. In summary they have damaged their reputation (brand) with their most loyal fans and may lose them so they may as well go chasing their new fans in internet streaming land.

This has been coming for years. When you allow foreign interests to infiltrate your institutions this is what happens. The Premier is effectively run by foreigners and a large proportion of footballers are foreign. They have little or no allegiance, loyalty or care for England, or it's traditions. Extrapolate this to our society in general, and you will get a good picture of our future thanks to g.lobalism. I think the big six should be chucked out of the league and or subjected to a new tax which would be distributed to the other 14 clubs.

Proposals for the Super League include a share of £3.5 billion between the 12 teams. I think this is the rub, these teams are all skint and will get 350 millions up-front? More like the mafia than sport.

I think the timing is very deliberate. No fans in stadiums to protest, lots of clubs struggling financially, a period of great change happening all over the world.

They have the cash to hire the best PR to turn this in their favour. Let's face it, most top 6 "fans" are either obese armchair dwellers, children and/or idiots and can be sold almost anything. Their generational core fan base can easily be replaced by casual tourists willing to pay a great deal of money for the dubious privilege of watching their beloved team play live. Season ticket holders replaced by one-off attendees who pay more. Their ready replacements will have no idea that there used to be a great atmosphere at these games, albeit one largely generated by the traveling fans. Do you honestly think the US owners will care a fig? After all, they are from a country where successful sports teams relocated 1000s miles to an even bigger catchment area and made even more money (there are lakes in Los Angeles?).
