More waste of time and money. In order to score a striker has to have the ball and we don't seem to be able to fathom that point. It's not the strikers fault - we could have Ronaldo up front and he would be deemed a flop.

On the evidence of Man City game we should not be competing in this league. To go out, set up so negatively, we were already defeated before we left the changing room. Disgusting

This could be the move that sets us on fire. With him Eze and Zaha we will be very dangerous. Bring it on.

Hopefully this will trigger others following Meyer out. Benteke, Sakho, and finally Wickham should all go this summer.

I have no idea if he is any good or not but I cannot for the life of me see why we are signing another striker.
God knows we need to score goals but as others have said they need the opportunity first!
We have Benteke, Bats, Ayew and the ever injured CW.
Add Wilf, Eze (Roy will have him at left back soon) and Townsend into the equation and we just don't need him unless players are leaving.
We need an inventive midfield player and a very mobile centre half amongst many others.
Roy sets up to make our forwards suffer and so we look to buy another one!
What a transfer policy - absolutely dire.

Really!?

Is the highlights video a joke...? The guy looks absolutely dreadful to me.

Another young player sadly awaiting the Roy treatment, like a certain Sorloth with his confidence shattered by negative tactics.
At least he can be shipped out when loan spell expires.

No, they should not. Certainly not Benteke.

30 goals in 76 appearances for a struggling side in a good league is pretty decent to be fair...

My concern is, is we will just suck any flair out of him with our dull and negative football and won't be able to provide him with any service.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

No, they should not. Certainly not Benteke.

Benteke, has played really well for us in recent weeks, his general play , holding up, bringing others in to play, and first touches with the head, mobility , even effective in defence.
He is not a natural six yard finisher, but even if he was he doesn’t get that meany chances. Skied one, and very nearly squeezed a decent header in ,against Arsenal. And that was a good day.
If the team was able to push him into forward positions and keep the ball and him there , who knows how often he would have scored. And as things stand , if the team was able, applies to any new recruit.

I think we need to try and be positive about this move. As someone else said, he has a bit of the Paulo Wanchope about him with his slightly awkward but unpredictable style and height and pace, the latter two points giving him a better chance of succeeding. He has experience of playing for the underdogs in the Bundesliga, so he will be used to fighting for chances.

He does look like a work in progress rather than the finished article, but personally I think while he settles in he could be that spark we need to come off the bench and cause mayhem. I hate playing against players with Inspector Gadget legs as just when you think you have some time on the ball this foot appears out of nowhere.

On a final point, we have been linked with him for quite a long time, which suggests we've been scouting him thoroughly, and it could be the player's agent reached out to us/his current club to broker a deal. This doesn't appear to be an opportunistic signing like the outgoing Meyer, which again gives hope that he will fit in better.

Providing he gets through the medical and signs I'm going to lean towards this being an exciting signing with relatively little risk.

Get him in now, get them out in the summer.
