I think that's a fair deal. Especially in the climate we find ourselves in.

This is extremely useful info. You have proved yourself to be the most proficient ITKer on the Holmesdale! My impression is they will have to raise the bid again to have any chance of success....

If Watford have a poor season and Sarr doesn't shine then in 12 months they could be desperate to take £25m. I would love us to sign him, but Andros is playing well enough that we're not desperate.

Very last minute, but if (as is probable) our subsequent bids are rejected I wonder if we might make a move for BOS from QPR. He would be more of a backup than an immediate replacement for Andros, but I like the look of him and he would cost no more than £5m.

Can’t believe a Championship club can afford to turn down that sort of money, especially given the the current economic situation.

We have 1 hour 23 minutes to have any bid accepted and agree terms with a playerwho will take great care of his career. I would be staggered to see a deal of this magnitude happening this late.

And I don't believe it will. Either we were already back with £37m (and even then, very little chance) or this ain't happening.

Surely no hope.

Doesn't look like it, but credit to Palace for trying

Apparently West Ham have had to loan Benrahma with an obligation to buy because they ran out of time...so you would have to think that we also don't have enough time left to complete this deal.

That is not a website I would open. Does it say we made a second bid?

It feels a bit like token effort to me so as that club can say "well we did try". You can only hope getting so much off for a last minute bid and you need the seller to be desperate. They have only got to wait 10-11 weeks to potentially sell him at a much higher price.

I imagine that with the parachute payments Watford aren't desperate. Plus, there is no time for them to get a replacement in.

However, it would be great to be proved wrong. Though, I would prefer a creative midfielder.

Why leave it until the last day? Can only assume we have deliberately done this and put in a bid we know will be rejected so we can say 'oh we tried'.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Not sure. I suspect it’s more likely that we’ve thrown a cheeky bid in, at the last minute, to test their resolve. This is the last chance they’ll have to sell for a few months so may just be an attempt at a bit of a smash and grab, by floating a decent chunk of money past them.

Realistically, an 11th hour bid for a player like Sarr is our best hope (and even then it's a slim hope).

If we set the price for him early in the window, Watford and any interested clubs have all the time in the world to consider their options.

As it is, would a bigger club rush in to match us (would they even have time?), or would they think "well it's only Palace getting him, we were never sure anyway"?
